**Location**: Naples

**Education**
- Bachelor’s Degree in education, recreation, childcare, youth development, or equivalent experience. Teacher certification preferred.
- Current First Aid and CPR (adult/child/infant) certifications.

**Experience**
- Experience with youth programming
- Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical incidents and the physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency
- At least two years of supervisory and childcare experience
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work with adolescents and diverse populations
- Familiarity with issues facing adolescents
- Commitment to work from a strength-based and/or youth development perspective
- Ability to work in a team setting
- Excellent organizational skills
- Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) preferred

**Requirements**:

- Must provide proof of COVID-19 vaccinations or exemption.
- Must have a valid Florida Driver's License.
- Must be able to pass state and national background checks.
- Successful completion of Core Competency course.
- Successful completion of first aid and CPR class.

**Overview**

Under the supervision of the Residential Manager, this position is responsible for developing and maintaining a safe and enjoyable After School Program for children in The Shelter. Primary responsibilities include counseling, service management, curriculum development, mentoring, mediation, planning, facilitating developmentally stimulating experiences, creating a positive youth centered environment focused on resiliency, character development, civil leadership, and academic achievement. Strengths based empowerment focused case management is essential to successfully achieving outcomes and goals. The Youth Development Advocate also provides individual and group counseling to students, crisis intervention, and safety planning.

**Essential** Functions**
- Oversee youth focused, school age programs.
- Develop programming that is culturally diverse, interesting, and relevant to the specific age group.
- Manage, sustain, and grow program scope.
- Provide care and supervision of all attendees.
- Orient students to the program; assist them in developing and implementing academic goals.
- Provide counseling and maintain individual responsibility for students, including their attendance and educational progress.
- Provide crisis intervention and assistance with out-of-school issues.
- Work with students’ significant persons to support positive outcomes. Assist with referrals to outside resources. Maintain case management records, documents, and reports as required by funders. Support student growth by providing continuous feedback and resources to meet the individual needs of the students.
- Work as collaborative team to support student progress. Develop goals and objectives for your programs. Complete lesson plans and calendars. Ensure that all children involved with the program are supervised. Provide a safe and enjoyable environment for children. Provide individual mentoring and follow-up referrals for outside services to program participants and their families. Consult with youth, families, schools, and/or community contacts to effectively monitor participants’ progress. Collect and maintain outcome data for project and client files. Provide data for reports as needed. Assist with program revision to reflect emerging community issues and current youth culture.
