The position will start in October 2024.

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

Responsible for all activities related to the delivery of dental care to Health Center patients assuring the adequacy of the dental care delivery system, monitoring provider productivity, monitoring the dental component of the Performance Improvement system, and providing budgetary oversight.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Provide and manage direct patient care, including intra and extra oral examinations, evaluations, assessments, diagnoses and treatment while meeting the Centers minimum productivity requirements per year as set by the Center and Dental Director (prorated per FTE).
- Follow established Premise Health policies, procedures, and objectives, continuous quality improvement objectives, and safety, environmental, and/or infection control standards
- Participate in analysis of patient’s health problems and recommend preventative solutions.
- Follow evidenced based guidelines for prescribing pharmaceuticals, other medications, and treatment regimens as appropriate to assessed dental conditions; referring patients to specialists and to relevant patient care components as appropriate.
- Responsible for taking calls after hours and on weekends on a rotation basis with other providers; and participates in specified health promotion, education and/or prevention programs.
- Provide excellent internal/external customer service via telephone, fax or face-to-face contact to assist patients with their health care needs.
- Approve and recommend hiring, training, evaluating, and/or dismissing of dental staff.
- Monitor standards of performance and quality of patient care through a peer review system.
- Ensure efficiency in dental practice management.
- Participate in the development and review of the dental department budget and staffing patterns/needs appropriate for patient care
- Develop and participate in all Performance Improvement activities relating to dental practice and ensures the dental component complies with all regulations and standards (OSHA, AAAHC, CDC, ADA, and State Regulations)
- Monitor revenues and reports on the productivity of the dental department recommending and implementing strategies and changes to enhance the dental program.
- Monitor providers’ production reports weekly.
- Act upon patient grievances of a dental nature.
- Maintain relationships with local dental groups, the School of Dentistry, dental societies, and consumer groups.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

**Education**:

- All state licenses/certifications to practice
- Federal DEA license (matching each state of practice - except: orthodontists)
- State Narcotic/Controlled Substance license if required in your state (Alabama, Connecticut, DC, Delaware, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Missouri, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Utah, Wyoming, Puerto Rico.) (New York ROPES registration)
- Degree from accredited dental school
- Specialty training verification (if applicable)

**Experience**:

- Minimum experience of 5 years in the practice of dentistry required

Knowledge and Skills:

- Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
- Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects preferred.
- Knowledge and experience with Electronic Medical Records preferred.
