**JOB SUMMARY**

This entry-level position performs routine to complex clerical work in the preparation, processing and maintenance of accounting data and records. Reports to the Accounting Manager or
designee.

**Essential Functions**:
**ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS**:

- Performs general bookkeeping/accounting work, which may include but is not limited to
preparing weekly and monthly journal entries, maintaining petty cash funds, balancing
monies and accounts, preparing bank deposits and related reconciliations, and receiving, receipting and posting various monies.
- Receives and responds to inquiries regarding financial matters from employees, vendors, banking institutions and residents.
- Performs general clerical duties as required, including but not limited to typing reports and correspondence, copying and filing documents, entering computer data, processing daily mail, answering the telephone, etc.
- Receives and responds to inquiries regarding financial/purchasing matters from City
employees, vendors, banking institutions, etc.
- Interacts and communicates with the immediate supervisor, co-workers and other City
employees, vendors, and the general public.
- Operates a computer, printer, calculator, typewriter, fax machine, copier, telephone, etc.
- Performs related duties as assigned.

**Minimum Qualifications**:
**MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK**:

- High school diploma or GED equivalent and a minimum of 3 years of experience in technical accounting/bookkeeping; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
- Certification as an Accounts Payable Specialist, Accounts Receivable Specialist or
equivalent is preferred.

**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities**:

- Knowledge of the principles and practices of accounting, billing and bookkeeping.
- Knowledge of English language including spelling, composition and grammar.
- Knowledge of basic mathematics.
- Skill typing with speed and accuracy.
- Skill performing data entry with accuracy.
- Skill operating a variety of office equipment including computers, printers, copiers, etc.
- Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form.
- Ability to respond to supervision, guidance and direction of superiors in a positive, receptive manner and in accordance with stated policies and procedures.
- Ability to demonstrate a polite, helpful and courteous manner when engaged in any activity with the general public.
- Ability to operate and care for equipment to manufacturer’s specifications and/or within the specified parameters.
- Ability to adapt to an evolving and continually improving environment.
- Ability to demonstrate an understanding, consideration, and respect of cultural, religious, and gender differences when interacting with the general public and colleagues.

**PHYSICAL DEMANDS**:
Requires light physical effort that may include lifting up to 10 pounds. Work is most commonly
performed indoors or in an office environment

This is a union/represented position; the below summary of benefits provided by the City is applicable to all full-time positions covered under the G.A.M.E. Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).

**PAID TIME OFF**
- **City**-**Observed **H**olidays**:Twelve (12) paid full-day holidays and two (2) paid half-day holidays (Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve) per year
- **Personal Floating Holidays**:Five (5) paid full-day floating holidays to use in addition to the existing observed holidays
- **Sick Time**:Employees earn sick time at the rate of one (1) day per month.
- **Vacation Time**:Employees earn vacation time from the date of hire and accrue hours bi-weekly based on the following service schedule:

**INSURANCE**
- **Medical**: The City offers three (3) medical insurance options through Aetna: HMO, POS & HDHP w/HSA. Eligibility date is based on the following schedule:
