**Position Description**

Under the guidance and supervision of the Sports and Recreation Director, the PLAY (Physical Education) Coach is responsible for the safety, supervision, programming and involvement teaching elementary students on campus in sports and physical education. Hours for this position will be between the hours of 8:30am - 3:30pm.

**Qualifications**
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- High school diploma
- Kinesiology, Physical Education, Education, or Pedagogy background preferred.
- Experience working with grades K-5.
- Ability to communicate effectively and relate to youth.
- Must possess skills necessary to inform, educate and motivate students in all areas of health and physical fitness.
- Ability to communicate effectively with diverse group of individuals.
- Ability to assist students in all aspects of physical fitness and barriers they must overcome to achieve their goals.
- Current approved EMSA First Aid; Adult, Infant and Child CPR Certifications (8 hours). Completion of child abuse prevention training prior to first day in program

**Responsibilities**
- Aid in the development and amend (as necessary) monthly lesson plans to ensure organization and quality.
- Experience working with grades K-5.
- Communicate effectively and relate to youth as well as a diverse group of individuals.
- Assist students in all aspects of physical fitness and the barriers they must overcome to achieve their goals.
- Implement daily lesson plans in an environment so that each student has an opportunity for success and an ability to increase their confidence as it relates to physical activity and health.
- Make notations regarding each individual's participation, behavior and progress.
- Proactively build friendships between teachers, the staff, and students. Learn student's strengths and weaknesses so you can motivate and tailor lesson plans to meet their needs.
- Report problems, breakdowns in equipment, infringement on policies and unusual situations to appropriate supervisor/director.
