We are a medical office located in Cos Cob, southeastern Connecticut. As a small but growing practice led by a physician, we are seeking a part-time Medical Receptionist who is energetic, proactive, and hands-on to join our team.

**Job Title**: Medical Receptionist

**Job Summary**:
As a medical receptionist, you will be the first point of contact for patients visiting or contacting the medical facility. Your primary responsibilities include managing front desk operations, scheduling appointments, greeting patients, verifying insurance information, and maintaining patient records. You will work closely with healthcare professionals to ensure efficient patient flow and provide excellent customer service.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- **Front Desk Management**:

- Greet patients and visitors in a friendly and professional manner.
- Answer incoming calls, respond to inquiries, and transfer calls to appropriate staff members.
- Manage patient check-in and check-out processes efficiently.
- Maintain a tidy and organized reception area.
- **Appointment Scheduling**:

- Schedule patient appointments accurately using electronic scheduling systems.
- Coordinate appointments with healthcare providers, ensuring optimal scheduling and minimizing wait times.
- Remind patients of upcoming appointments via phone calls or automated messaging systems.
- **Patient Registration and Records Management**:

- Collect patient information and verify demographic details, insurance coverage, and referral information.
- Enter patient data accurately into electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Assist patients with completing necessary forms and documents.
- **Billing Support**:

- Explain billing, and payment options to patients.
- **Patient Communication and Customer Service**:

- Address patient inquiries, concerns, and requests promptly and courteously.
- Provide information about medical services, office policies, and procedures to patients.
- Ensure effective communication between patients, healthcare providers, and other staff members.
- **Administrative Support**:

- Assist with administrative tasks such as faxing, scanning, and filing medical documents.
- Manage incoming and outgoing mail.
- Collaborate with other administrative staff to ensure smooth operations of the medical facility.

**Qualifications and Skills**:

- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or certification in healthcare administration is a plus.
- Previous experience in a medical office or customer service role preferred.
- Proficiency in computer skills, including electronic medical records (EMR) systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry.
