**Duties**:
As a Biologist your duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:

- Participates in the planning and execution of complex studies and assessments or independently plans, organizes and
implements limited studies concerning biological and physical processes that affect ecosystems.
- Deploys remote data collection systems and manipulates and analyzes data from these systems.
- Reviews research and reports prepared by outside parties, such as technical reports, biological assessments, and
Environmental impact reports.
- Develops and maintains computer databases; conducts geospatial analysis; and gathers, analyzes, tabulates and
summarizes scientific, programmatic, and/or budgetary data.
- Works with various organizations to develop and maintain the outreach and volunteer program.

- Uniform: Official U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service uniform may required.

- Due to the requirement for motorized boat operation, the incumbent is required to complete the Department's Motorboat Operator Certification Course (MOCC). Must have or be able to obtain MOCC Certification within 6 months.

**Qualifications**:

- Only experience and education obtained by 05/13/2024 will be considered.
- **In order to qualify for this position you must possess both the **Basic Requirement** and **Minimum Qualification.**

Basic Requirement:
- Bachelor's or higher degree from an accredited college or university in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position. **OR**
- A combination of education and experience which includes courses equivalent to a major in the biological sciences (at least 24 semester hours) as shown above, plus appropriate experience or additional education that is comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in the biological sciences, agriculture, or natural resources management or related disciplines appropriate to the position.

Minimum Qualification [GS-09]- One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 grade level in Federal service that includes: Planning studies related to natural resource issues; drafting scientific reports; gathering biological, ecological, pathological, and/or public use data for scientific studies; -AND- communicating biological information to a wide array of audiences. **NOTE**:Your resume must contain sufficient detail of this level of work, i.e., complete begin/end dates, hours worked per week, duties performed, etc. for each timeframe for consideration. **OR**
- Two years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a master's degree or master's or equivalent graduate degree in wildlife biology, ecology, or a directly related field appropriate to this position. **NOTE**: Transcripts required. **OR**
- A combination of qualifying specialized experience and more than one year of graduate education (both as described above) that, when computed as percentages of their respective requirements, equals at least 100% when combined. Only graduate education beyond the first full year (18 semesters) is creditable using this method. **NOTE**: Transcripts required, and your resume must contain sufficient information, e.g., complete begin/end dates, work schedule, duties performed, etc., for each period of work for consideration to meet this standard.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
