**ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**: Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Ability to summarize the positive effects of personal recovery experience and willingness to share this experience in a way that would be helpful to others.

Connect with people needing recovery support & assist them in navigating their pathway.

Support individuals in developing coping skills & strategies for their recovery lifestyle & healthy living.

Facilitate groups in an open and welcoming environment.

Provide direct one-on-one peer support utilizing your personal lived experience.

Establish connections with treatment providers & other community resources, including participating in community meetings/collaboratives.

Perform outreach efforts with harm reduction & withdrawal management organizations.

Work with local law enforcement & judicial branch programs/courts and participants. Must honor, support, and accept all pathways to recovery.

**SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES**: N/A

**QUALIFICATIONS**:
**_ Education_**:
High School Diploma or GED required.

**_ Experience_**:
Lived experience with substance use who is actively participating in their chosen recovery path for a minimum of two (2) years.

**_ Other_**:
Must complete or maintain peer specialist certification (60 hours)/credential within twelve (12) months of employment - the employer can provide certification.

Cross-cultural skills and experience with culturally diverse populations.

Basic computer skills are required, including the use of Microsoft Office Programs such as Outlook, Word, Excel, and office machines.

Valid Colorado Driver's License with a driving record that meets agency requirements.

**PHYSICAL DEMANDS**:The maximum expected weight for any physical moving requirement should not exceed 25 lbs., and only while using appropriate safety equipment. The individual must be able to stand, walk, and sit, including driving, for long periods. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

**WORK ENVIRONMENT**:
This job requires the ability to work both out in the community and within an office setting. The duties of this position may require regular work outside the office.
