**Essential Duties and Responsibilities**:
The Company Phlebotomist is limited to routine venipuncture of the arm, and related specimen processing and administrative duties and responsibilities outlined in the Phlebotomy Manual and Job Description. The Company phlebotomist is prohibited from performing other medical procedures such as skin testing, injections, etc.
Scope of responsibilities include (other duties maybe assigned)
- Complete routine blood samples within 5-10 minutes and difficult cases in 15 minutes.
- Complete procedures scheduled during shift without interfering with the quality of work.
- Performs Community Outreach
- Respond to changes in work schedule as necessary.
- Prioritize work to achieve maximum efficiency.
- Maintains work area in a sanitary and properly supplied condition at all times.
- Greets patients in a courteous manner.
- Verifies correct patient by checking name before the procedure is begun.
- Washes hands before and after each patient contact.
- Uses proper technique in obtaining blood samples, including single use of sterile needles
- Draws blood properly and rarely misses a vein on any patient.
- Labels the tubes immediately and correctly after procedure is completed.
- Uses time between tests to company advantage by organizing paperwork, performing general household duties, putting away supplies, or performing other Company duties as necessary.
- Seeks information or asks for assistance from appropriate personnel.
- Demonstrates competence in all procedures required for position in accordance with company policies, with particular emphasis on phlebotomy and blood samples.
- Obeys IHD policies regarding safety and confidentiality requirements.
- Knows various needles, tube types, specimen processing and handling requirements.
- Assists in orientation and training of new staff as necessary.
- Recognizes how the phlebotomist’s position and duties relate to the overall function of Company.
- Demonstrate competence in drawing and processing adult and geriatric specimens.
- Attends to personal affairs to avoid interfering with work schedule.
- Limits personal telephone calls.
- Demonstrates an ability to assess the situation, consider alternatives, and choose the appropriate action.
- Performs duties in an independent manner.
- Seeks guidance and direction as necessary for the performance of duties.
- Maintains supplies and orders as necessary.
- Reports to supervisor any suggestion for positive changes or recommendations.
- Self-starter who needs no reminders of duties and tasks that needs to be completed.
- Identifies problems and opportunities to improve patient services.
- Reviews policies and procedures regularly to maintain a complete understanding of the company requirements.
- Adapts to changes in methods and procedures with ease and confidence.
- Strives to be an effective and productive member of the Company staff.
- Maintains a professional appearance at all times; inspires patients, staff and visitor confidence by communicating and working in a professional manner.
- Supports Company goals and philosophy.

- Reports to work with mínimal tardiness.
- Follows policies regarding use of sick leave.

**Requirements**:The position must fulfill all local State requirements pertaining to the state in which the phlebotomy site is located. For example, phlebotomists working in California must comply with California Business and Professions Code. Other qualifications include: 1. High school graduate or equivalent 2. Phlebotomy training and/or certification preferred 3.Experience as a phlebotomist preferred

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
