**Job Summary**

The Enterprise Risk Management Specialist is responsible for contractual review and mitigation of risks related to third-party insurance and contractual language working with all levels of the System and Sponsors' third-party relationships. Accountable for identifying, preventing and managing risk via day-to-day administration of risk mitigation strategies for the System. Collaborates with all facilities and the broader complex organization to build effective relationships to manage risk. Establishes credibility with employees, staff, senior management, physicians, brokers and vendors in order to advance the risk management objectives, assure compliance with the System's contractual mandates and risk transfer standards and protect organizational assets. Serves as a resource and educator for enterprise risk management issues as needed throughout the System.

**Minimum Qualifications**

**Education**: Bachelors Degree in Science, Finance, Healthcare, Statistics or a related discipline preferred.

**Licenses/Certifications**: Associate in Risk Management (ARM) preferred

**Experience / Knowledge / Skills**:

- Five (5) years of progressive experience in large risk management, commercial insurance brokerage, claims management programs, or insurance related experience required.
- Demonstrated competency in insurance coverages and contractual risk mitigation practices.
- Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide appropriate negotiations to the clients served. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development as it relates to the different risk and contractual life cycles.
- Ability to demonstrate flexibility, discretion, and professionalism in difficult situations, and work collaboratively and independently to achieve results.
- Must understand overall insurance and applicable state and federal regulations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills required

**Principal Accountabilities**
- Responsible for day-to-day operations of the insurance risk mitigation management program of the System that includes an enterprise risk approach to exposures, loss control/loss prevention activities and analysis.
- Responsible for gathering and analyzing contractual insurance data and preparing reports for management. In coordination with Vendor Management, Legal and all customer departments will prepare and present data to senior leadership team as requested.
- Review and analyze coverage aspects of third parties, interact with commercial insurance brokers and agents of third parties and research any other data sources available for risk related identification to report department leadership.
- Proactively identifies gaps in applicable coverage and contractual risks to resolve potential adverse outcomes and/or claims.
- Proactively identify risk mitigation related training and education and present opportunities to minimize the frequency and reduce the severity of actual and potential risks.
- Participate in or lead in the negotiations of third-party contractual terms related to insurance and risk mitigation; Provide education and training on the coverage and claims processes of such contractual language as it relates to insurance coverage to management and transaction attorneys who will participate in contractual negotiations process.
- Provide appropriate risk mitigation expertise where is beneficial in the capacity of expert advisor or consultant or attend such meetings as appropriate based on availability.
- Review, monitor, manage, and investigate third-party compliance with System's Insurance and Vendor Management policies and procedures including such parties' compliance with the System's historical agreements in coordination with Vendor Management and System Legal Services.
- Review high-risk contracts that may be the source of potential legal action, claims or potential breach. Discuss and offer solutions when possible in order to resolve such potential claims in collaboration with internal Sponsors.
- Review and recommend new or amended department policies and procedures including providing support for the policy and procedure committee related to scope.
- Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management
