Under the direction of a Senior Transportation Engineer, the Transportation Engineering Technician (TET) performs duties and activities including, but not limited to, 24 hours a day - 7 days a week operation of the Regional Transportation Management Center (RTMC) and related traffic management activities, and traffic data collection and related office work for the traffic monitoring programs in the Division of Traffic Operations. The RTMC is located in the District 4 Office, in Oakland, and is jointly staffed with Caltrans, 511, and California Highway Patrol (CHP) personnel. Incumbent must be able to work any assigned work shifts including nights and weekends shifts. Based on annual workload, delivery commitments, and seasonal needs, incumbent may be assigned by the Department to a variety of positions in an office or field environment.
