Food Service ESP Manager

**Overview**:
Provide excellent, friendly customer service while preparing and serving a wide variety of food products, to clean and organize The Honest Weight Coop area at the Empire State Plaza; to manage the ESP location to meet goals for sales, margin, labor expense and customer service.

**Status**:
Full-time; Monday - Friday Day Hours (may be asked to work occasional weekend for special events at the Plaza or to work in the Food Service department at the store as needed).

$22.00-$24.00/hour

**Supervisor**:
Food Service Manager

**Responsibilities**:

- Supervise and train employees and member owners in food and kitchen safety, knife safety, allergens, SMS, and any other training necessary to perform their job functions effectively and efficiently
- Prepare and serve menu items according to recipe and portion guidelines
- Maintain a work pace which minimizes customer wait times
- Ensure that all product is in sellable condition and meets quality standards, making sure all unsellable items are disposed of
- Ensure that all products are stocked and merchandised according to department standards
- Fulfill all shift duties as assigned
- Maintain all areas that are designated HWFC; food storage areas are in sanitary, orderly condition meeting Health Department standards
- Participates in inventory
- Maintain current and accurate knowledge of products and ingredients

**Customer Service**
- Smile and greet everyone you encounter
- Offer product samples and suggestions for purchase in a friendly courteous manner
- Report customer suggestions, comments, and complaints to appropriate Manager
- Maintain awareness of customers and co-workers throughout the department to ensure premium customer service

**Department Maintenance**
- Provide management presence throughout the Food Service Department and guidance to staff in the absence of a food service sub department manager or in the absence of the Food Service Manager
- See that unsalable items are properly disposed of and keep accurate loss records
- Maintain counter, deli and self-service cases and prep areas in sanitary and orderly condition following health department regulations
- Place orders in a timely manner to ensure adequate amounts of ingredients and food preparation supplies are on-hand
- Monitor ESP time and temperatures; advise Food Service Manager of equipment repair and replacement needs
- Participate in periodic inventories
- Develop and implement proper opening, closing and shift change procedures

**Personnel**
- Recruit and hire qualified applicants following established policies and procedures
- Develop, implement and ensure on-the-job training for all ESP staff
- Conduct and document performance evaluations; and when appropriate, recommend pay increases
- Document performance issues and take corrective action as needed following established policies and procedures
- Create and maintain ESP staff schedule and review time sheets
- Create and monitor ESP prep sheets
- Organize staff meetings for ESP employees
- Participate in deli management team meetings
- Communicate with ESP staff on all matters that pertain to job performance

**Financial Management**
- Participate in sales target, margin, and budget development
- Track items for margin adherence, sales performance, and profit
- Track employee production and performance as a component of sales
- Track product lines for leads, turnover, rotation and inventory management

**Catering**
- Work with Food Service Manager to develop and improve catering menu
- Consult with customers regarding catering and special events
- Implement catering fulfillment system; work with Kitchen Manager to ensure delicious product and timely delivery as indicated by customer feedback
