**JOB DESCRIPTION**
Position Title: WHS Youth and Parent Engagement Specialist
Position Type: Full-Time
Reports To: Director of Youth Programs/ASSETs
Pay: $21 per hour + benefits (.50 bilingual incentive)
**ASSETs (After School Safety and Enrichment for Teens) **program partners with schools and
communities to provide academic support and safe, constructive alternatives for high school
students. More than just an after-school program, the ASSETs team empowers youth to achieve
academic and lifelong success. We work collaboratively with families, schools, and community
partners to offer after-school programs and services that support the academic, social-emotional,
and professional development of our students. We also provide family literacy services to parents
and guardians of the students we serve.
**Position Description**:The Youth Engagement Specialist plays a critical role in connecting with
youth, community members, and as a member of the ASSETs team. They are expected to run
youth programming and Parent Engagement workshops for the ASSETs program at Woodland
High school, as well as serve as the advisor for the Woodland Youth Council. The Youth and
Parent Engagement Specialist must be outgoing, organized, social, ambitious, and dynamic with
the ability to work independently. The Youth and Parent Engagement Specialist must connect with
multiple audiences including, but not limited to: youth, community organizers, community
business leaders, local political leaders, parents, school staff and administration, fellow ASSETs
staff.
**Position Responsibilities**:
ASSETs Program Marketing:
- Manage student recruitment;
- Encourage after-school program enrollment,
- Log independent study contract hours, track attendance.
- Utilize school and Empower Yolo social media outlets: Flyers, Parent Square, calendars,- Develop alliance with WHS administration in everyday operations.
- ASSETs Literacy & Parent Engagement:
- Design and deliver relevant presentations to parents on a monthly basis.
- Coordinate with community organizations for parent meetings.
- Present ASSETs program to classrooms, ELAC parent meetings, and community partner
- events.- Promote ASSETs Monthly Parent Engagement events. Track attendance for reporting.
- Coordinate with WHS Administration to schedule presentations.
- Market events via phone calls, flyers, social media, and more.
**Minimum Qualifications**:
- High School diploma or equivalent required. Must have (1) at least two years of
study at an institution of higher education or (2) an associate degree (or higher)
(preferred).
- At least two years of experience working directly with youth in an educational
setting or mentorship capacity.
- Valid driver’s license and proof of automobile insurance.
- Strong interpersonal skills and effective at relationship building with students and
- families- Strong relationship building and networking skills
- Strong computer skills: Mac literate. Fluency in Microsoft Office suite (including
- Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Word).- Knowledge of social media for marketing purposes.
- Successful completion of background clearance check.
- Written and verbal proficiency in Spanish required.
**Knowledge and Abilities**

- Experience/knowledge of grants preferred.
- Ability to interact effectively and seamlessly with youth and adults alike.
- Excellent organization and planning skills (for internal and external activities).
- Life experience reflecting or sensitivity to the experiences of rural, urban, immigrant,
- Latino and low-income youth.- Ability to use a variety of media to create materials for outreach, trainings, and
- presentations.- Ability to work independently, as part of a team, and proactively problem-solve.
- Interest and experience in public speaking and writing for a variety of audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups in a multicultural setting.
- Demonstrated relationship building, networking, and follow-up skills.
