Rootz, an enrichment center primarily serving children from birth to 18 years, is looking to fill a Music Director position for 2024-2025 school year. The Music Director is a part-time after school and weekend position beginning mid-August with the opportunity for additional hours pending availability. The teaching artist reports and is accountable directly to the Director of Theater.

We have 8 separate casts in place. Music Directors must be available for all of these hours:
Mondays: 5-6:30pm

Tuesdays: 5-6:30pm

Wednesdays: 4-7:30pmThursdays: 5-8:30pm

Fridays: 4-5:30pm

Saturdays: 9am-12:30pm

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Delivering music instruction and 14-week curriculum, including final class performances
- Conducting activities consistent with the program goals and description
- Communicating with the Department Head the needs of the program, i.e. developments or any issues that affect program delivery
- Complying with Rootz policies and procedures

QUALIFICATIONS
- A minimum of 1 year teaching and/or mentoring experience in school or community based setting
- Experience working with children, grades 1-8 is a HUGE PLUS
- Ability to teach music (piano not required, but preferred).
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalency certificate
- Bachelors of Arts Degree (significant coursework towards a degree in a related field) preferred, or proven ability/related training
- Ability to stay organized, manage multiple tasks, meet and set deadlines within a complex team environment
- Ability to plan with teachers of different disciplines for events or multidisciplinary lessons
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to, and interest in the arts and education
- Must be able to assist in the planning and supervision of activities which promote a healthy emotional, social, intellectual and physical development in each child.
- Use developmentally appropriate discipline methods. Shall possess good oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to demonstrate emotional maturity and a nurturing and cheerful attitude when working with children, parents and staff.

**Job Type**: Part-time

Pay: $25.00 - $40.00 per hour

Expected hours: 15 - 30 per week
