Overview:
The Lawrenceville School seeks enthusiastic, energetic, collegial individuals who want to work with both adults and students in a collaborative and inclusive academic setting.

**Responsibilities**:

- With the supervision of the Director of the program, RAs select topics to cover during study skills to introduce students to best practices in note-taking, time management, composition/editing, file and document management (1 hr/day)
- Serve as peer resource/tutor during consultation period supporting curricular work in disciplines (additional resource to teachers)
- Partner with other STAs to design, plan, schedule, and deliver daily substantive co-curricular offerings in pursuit of school’s physical health and team experience outcomes while meeting safety standards
- Support Director in articulation and upholding of community standards; assist Director in developing and leading character-building exercises activities
- Compose “house reports” to document student experience as well as identify strengths and areas for growth
- Participate in regular student review meetings to identify student needs and discuss and assess programming
- Resource/advocate during academic year (i.e. mentoring, attending LRSP sponsored dinners/socials, follow up meetings w/Ms. Hall, establishing mentoring program for alumni, etc)

**CLASSROOM RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Prepare in advance for the humanities, math, & science curriculum. This preparation may require additional study, review, research, preparation in advance of class time so that you have firm grasp on the academic content for the day.
- Deliver curriculum during class meeting times with the guidance of the classroom teacher.
- Enhance small group activities that reinforce the overarching daily learning goals in breakout rooms.
- Lead small group activities with the purpose of understanding and developing a student's thinking and Harkness learning skills (in breakout rooms, consultation, & study hall)
- Identify critical information from class sessions and then elaborate on it to help students understand the material
- Learn and implement the basics of Harkness instructional design and pedagogy in a virtual setting
- Support classroom teacher and troubleshoot when the need arises
- Performs other duties as requested

Qualifications:

- Strong time management skills and be able to complete tasks and meet deadline
- Outstanding communication skills, including the ability to use clear, concise and grammatically correct written and oral language in all professional interactions with students, their families, peers, the leadership team and the larger community
- Tolerance for ambiguity and flexibility
- Strong interpersonal, organizational and problem-solving skillsA desire to serve students and to participate fully in a virtual academic and house community
- Ability to implement Harkness teaching method
- Able to remain calm in emergency situations
- Previous Rising Scholars Program participant/alumn

**Education and/or Experience**:

- Previous experience supervising children and young adults, preferably in a school or camp environment. Examples include, but are not limited to: babysitting, peer tutoring, serving as the captain of a sports team, camp counselor (at School Camp or elsewhere), prefect (especially in a Lower house at Lawrenceville)
- Prior residential supervision experience of children and/or young adults preferred

**Work Environment Characteristics and Physical Demand**- Physical demands are in excess of those for sedentary work. Must be able to remain on their feet for extended periods of time, go up and down flights of steps, as well as stoop, kneel, crouch, and lift.
- Routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, fax machines, etc.
- Must be capable of using visual display terminal with continuous wrist movement on a keyboard
- Required to stand for long periods of time
- Required to, talk, hear, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms
- Required to work via ZOOM, evenings, weekends and holidays in conjunction with Program’s calendar and events
- Must be able to lift up to 25lbs. without assistance
- Ability to see with normal parameters.
- Operates in a professional work environment
