Job Title: Alcohol Drug Counselor - Homeless

Type**:Full Time, In-person, with benefits**

Location: North Hollywood, CA

**Current Certification as an Alcohol Drug Counselor required.**

Social Service Professionals, "the professional's choice" for careers in Social Work and Therapy, is looking for an Alcohol Drug Counselor to provide counseling services to homeless clients in North Hollywood, CA. This position will develop, oversee and implement substance abuse recovery programs for homeless adults. Your efforts will make a difference in the lives of others everyday

**Responsibilities**:

- Evaluate patients’ psycho-social needs and the impact of substance abuse on those needs;
- Evaluate patients’ family/social situation to support a treatment plan;
- Utilize community resources to assist patients’ psycho-social and homeless needs;
- Document history, care plans and prepare reports as needed.

Experience Requirements:

- 2-3 years of experience providing addiction counseling. Must have previous experience working with the homeless population, preferably with Substance Abuse.

Education Requirements:

- Current Certificate for Alcohol Drug Counseling
- Bachelor's Degree in Social Work or a relevant field is strongly preferred

Qualifications:

- Current CADC Certificate
- Current AHA-approved CPR card
- Skills in critical thinking, problem-solving, logic and reasoning, judgment, time management techniques and data entry;
- Ability to make improvements or take corrective action;
- Observe, receive, and otherwise obtain information from all relevant sources;
- Organize, plan, and prioritize work;
- Communicate with people outside the organization, represent the organization to patients, clients and the public;
- Deal calmly and effectively in high stress situations;
- Develop constructive and cooperative working relationships with others, and maintain them over time;
- Work within a team as well as independently;
- Speak, read, and write effectively as appropriate for the needs of the audience while demonstrating the proper use of grammar.
