**Job description**

The Director of Finance is responsible for the financial health of the Association, including the development of a financial strategy, metrics tied to that strategy, and the ongoing development and monitoring of control systems designed to preserve company assets and report accurate financial results. This includes overseeing the preparation and reporting of the Association’s financial information. The Director of Finance is a key member of a management team supporting all departments and the Board of Directors. Financial decisions are made in cooperation with the Finance Committee and the Board of Directors. Principal accountabilities are:
**Planning**

1. Assist in formulating the associations’ future direction and supporting tactical initiatives.

2. Manage the budgeting process and develop performance measures that support the company’s direction.

3. Manage the capital request process for all funds including Reserves, Community Enhancement and Operations.

4. Lead the development of the annual budget and Reserve Study update

**Operations**

1. Participate in key decisions as a member of the executive management team.

2. Manage a team of financial contributors who develop and manage our association’s financial ongoing activities.

3. Maintain in-depth relations with all members of the management team.

4. Ensure that the management team is trained on all accounting policies and assist in the formulating of accounting policies.

5. Manage the accounting, tax and treasury functions.

6. Oversee accounting staff, ensuring the staff is properly trained and cross-trained with appropriate documentation.

7. Oversee the monthly close process and reporting, the annual audits and all required regulatory filings.

8. Oversee the budget preparation process and monitor performance, recommending and coordinating within the Association corrective action as needed.

9. Oversee the associations’ transaction processing systems.

10. Implement operational best practices.

11. Maintain and update the Association’s Fixed Operational Assets and Reserve Items.

12. Maintain and manage the Association’s Reserve Study.

13. Oversee and report on capital project expenditures, ensuring expenditures are properly approved per policy.

14. Provide analysis and information as required by the Executive Director and the Board of Directors.

15. Provide analysis and support for all departments.

**Financial Information**

1. Oversee the issuance of financial information.

2. Report monthly financial results to the Finance Committee and Board of Directors

3. Ensure that all financial information is maintained and archived appropriately.

**Accounting Controls & Insurance**

1. Construct and monitor reliable control systems.

2. Maintain relations with insurance representative ensuring appropriate insurance coverage.

3. Ensure the association complies with all legal and regulatory requirements.

4. Establish and maintain a working relationship with external organizations insuring that record keeping meets the requirements of auditors and government agencies.

5. Report risk issues to the Finance Committee and Board of Directors on a timely basis.

6. Maintain relations with external auditors and investigate their findings and address their recommendations.

**Funding**

1. Monitor cash balances and cash forecasts.

2. Maintain relations with investment advisor.

3. Maintain relations with bankers.

4. Strategically Invest funds to maximize returns.

**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS**

**Education**:Accounting or Finance degree with an advanced degree or CPA required.

**Experience**:5+ years of progressive accounting experience. Minimum of 2 years
- experience in a management/supervisory role within an accounting practice is desired.

**Knowledge/Skills**: Ability to operate a personal computer, and have a strong knowledge of accounting software, and Microsoft Office.

Pay: $125,000.00 - $140,000.00 per year
