The Line Experience is on a mission to help individuals experience the joy and freedom of riding bikes. We provide low-cost bike rentals and skill building areas to progress in the sport while creating a welcoming community for riders of all levels. We also pay attention to the human-bike connection, and are known for excellent suspension service, bike-fitting, and custom bike builds.

Located in North Bend, Washington, our Experience Center is the gateway to PNW outdoor recreation. We believe biking is for everyone, and we encourage the responsible use and appreciation of local parks and green spaces. From the Snoqualmie Valley Trail to local world-class singletrack, we provide equipment, coaches, services, and area expertise to bring mountain and gravel biking to everyone.

**Job Summary/Objective**:
The Retail Assistant Manager is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of The Line Experience rental and retail departments. This includes setting goals and targets, developing and implementing policies and procedures, and managing budgets. The Retail Assistant Manager is also responsible for helping hire, train, and develop staff members for retail operations, as well as scheduling, supervising employee performance, and providing feedback.

To be successful in this role, the Retail Assistant Manager should have strong leadership and management skills, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills. They should be able to think strategically and make decisions that align with the company's goals. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are also important, as is the ability to work independently and manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously.

In addition to managing the day-to-day operations of the department, the Retail Assistant Manager is responsible for developing and implementing strategies to improve customer service, increase sales, and grow the business. This may include merchandising, developing marketing campaigns, analyzing data to identify trends and opportunities, and working to coordinate efforts across departments.

The Retail Assistant Manager is also responsible for ensuring that the rental and retail departments are operating efficiently and effectively. This may involve analyzing data to identify areas for improvement, implementing new technologies or processes, and working with vendors to negotiate contracts and secure the best prices for goods and services.

Other responsibilities of the Retail Assistant Manager may include preparing reports for upper management, collaborating with other departments to achieve company goals, and participating in industry events and conferences to stay up-to-date on industry trends and best practices.

**Essential Functions and Responsibilities**:

- Assist in recruiting, interviewing, and managing employees for the shop staff for rental, retail sales, bike assembly and service/assembly
- Manage shop and/or satellite locations during opening/closing, and operating hours
- Monitor and analyze sales performance metrics; identify opportunities for optimization and growth for retail and rental business
- Responsibility for inventory management and ordering
- Responsibility for Bike rental manager system and lightspeed system
- Develop curated retail packages - eg. Beginner package (Helmet, pads, etc.)
- Merchandising and retail space planning
- Bicycle sales and identification of bikes to stock; help coordinate partnerships for demos etc.

**Additional Job Requirements**:

- Regularly scheduled attendance, including one weekend day most weeks
- Percentage of time traveling - less than 10%
- All employees must follow The Line’s employment practices and attendance

**Qualifications**:

- Strong customer service skills and experience in rentals and retail management
- Relevant work experience in the bike industry or other retail setting
- Proficient basic bike mechanic skills
- Experience managing staff or comparable experience in a leadership role
- 1 year teaching, coaching, and/or leadership experience
- Excellent organizational skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including conflict resolution
- Experience in cash management and ordering
- High School diploma or equivalent
