Your Role and Responsibilities

Located onsite in Radford, VA

This position is for a Junior Systems Administrator for a mixed and growing environment of Red Hat Enterprise Linux/Oracle Enterprise Linux and Solaris. This position will work with the existing Unix team to grow and learn further how to manage, maintain, deploy, troubleshoot, and support servers for all of the customers' needs. This position will show an affinity to learn while growing their skillset in Unix administration. The position will be exposed to the many different aspects of the current job description and will be expected to retain as much of that information as possible. The expectation is that this position will grow their skills and move forward into becoming a Senior Systems Administrator.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise
- Required Certifications: CompTIA Security+ or any other IAT Level II DoD 8570 approved baseline certification
- 2+ years of experience as a Unix Systems Administrator or equivalent training. Basic Unix Commands - Display the ability to traverse thru directories, files, and display the permissions/ownership of those locations. Also needs to be able to modify, update, create, and delete files.
- Ability to transfer files via sftp using WinSCP. Need to be comfortable using Command Line Interface (CLI) and be able to complete tasks using it.
- Scripting - Should be aware of the different scripting languages to ensure that there can be some automation of daily tasks. This skill will grow more while in the position. Patching - Be aware of how to use basic yum and rpm commands to patch servers and to check package information and dependencies.
- Networking - Understand and use basic networking troubleshooting tools. Such as, but not limited to, ping/netstat/nslookup.
- Teamwork - Must be willing to take direction and instruction from senior team members and show a willingness to learn and take
- DoD Secret clearance required
