Position Information

**Job Title**

**Essential Duties Summary**

**Essential Functions**
- Develop and implement a vision for the spiritual life at Sarah Lawrence, ensuring a welcoming and inclusive environment for students of all faiths and spiritual backgrounds.
- Collaborate with students, faculty, and staff to create programming that promotes spiritual exploration, dialogue, and understanding.
- Develop and implement interfaith programs, activities, and services to engage students and enhance students’ spiritual life experience. Implement and supervise interfaith dialogue and learning opportunities.
- Provide pastoral care and counsel to students, offering support during times of personal, academic, and spiritual need.
- Serve as a resource for religious and non-religious students seeking guidance on spiritual and ethical questions, helping them navigate their beliefs and values.
- Organize and facilitate religious services, meditation sessions, and other spiritual practices.
- Establish partnerships with and collaborate with local religious leaders and groups in Yonkers and Westchester county and other relevant community organizations to enhance the spiritual life of students both on and off campus.
- Serve as primary advisor to all faith-based student organizations (e.g., Hillel and the Muslim Student Association)
- Work closely with colleagues to integrate spiritual life programming with other initiatives aimed at fostering belonging and community.
- Collaborate with Student Life and other Student Affairs departments to promote intercultural dialog and learning opportunities.
- Uphold The HUB’s spiritual space as a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for all students, including supervision of a student associate who helps maintain the space.
- Support College leadership in crisis management

**Additional Responsibilities**
- Promote, support, and collaborate with DEI programs broadly, including those offered in The HUB.
- Provide information and resources to the College community to enhance awareness and understanding of challenges faced by various faiths and spiritual backgrounds.
- Design and maintain the College’s internal and external Spiritual Life webpages.
- Develop, administer, and monitor the Spiritual Life budget.
- Assist in planning, organizing, and coordinating annual pre-Orientation and Orientation events; Welcome Week activities; and Study Days, Thanksgiving, and Spring Break programs.

**Required Qualifications**

**Skills and Abilities**
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Demonstrated ability to provide pastoral care and counseling to students in a sensitive and compassionate manner.
- Knowledge of and respect for a variety of spiritual and religious traditions, with a willingness to learn about new traditions.
- Ability to work collaboratively with students, faculty, staff, and community partners to promote spiritual growth and understanding.

**Education and Experience**
- Master’s degree in Divinity, Theology, Religious Studies, or a related field.
- Ordination or certification in a recognized spiritual or religious tradition preferred.
- Experience working in a college or university setting, preferably in a role related to spiritual life, chaplaincy, or counseling.
- Commitment to fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment for students of all spiritual and religious traditions
