**Hours: 1st shift: 5:30am
- 2:30pm**

**SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS**:
Works in the Laser and Turret Department to ensure safety, quality and daily manufacturing schedules are met. Ensure all set-up and quality checks are being completed as specified, ensure new operators are completely trained and are qualified to work. Oversight of material handling for the department. Enforcement of 5S standards throughout the department. Investigate all non-conformance issues, determine root cause, and implement preventative measures. Log all non-conformances as needed. Work in conjunction with process auditor and set up to make any process improvements necessary to ensure operators are hitting production quotas.

**SPECIFIC DUTIES, ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES** **INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO**:

- Perform daily checks to ensure operators and set up are performing quality checks as required.
- Oversight of new operators, ensuring training is completed and they are qualified to work.
- Investigate all non-conformance issues, determine root cause and implement preventative measures.
- Work in conjunction with process auditor and set up to make any process improvements necessary to ensure operators are hitting production quotas.
- Log all non-conformances as needed.

- Inspects work piece for defects.
- Measures work piece and verifies dimensions using micrometer, template, straightedge, and scale. Selects and positions flat, block, radius or special purpose die sets into ram and bed of machine, using hoist crane, measuring instruments and hand tools.
- Provide input to enhance existing production methods.
- Work independently with minimum supervision and/or willing to work in a team environment, which may include working on projects and/or equipment that is outside or of original job scope.
- Conduct training. Coach, lead and develop team members.
- Continually strive to meet Midland Metal Products employment standards, policies, and regulations.
- Assist with other departments when necessary.
- Maintain awareness of and continually practice safe work habits. Maintain a safe work environment.
- Maintain cleanliness on projects both during and after job completion. Adhere to and understand 5-S standards and evaluation.
- Work overtime when needed.
- Work in a variety of temperature conditions.
- Maintain accurate records, both paper and electronic, related to incoming and outgoing materials, job orders, shipping tags, etc.
- Maintain updated knowledge of product and industry standards.
- Perform related duties as assigned or as the situation dictates.
- Attend company-sponsored training (i.e. external, in-house, web/computer based, etc.)

**POSITION REQUIREMENTS**:
**Education and Training**:
High school diploma or GED and technical training preferred.

**Experience**:

- 2 years of previous work-related skill, knowledge, and experience preferred
- Knowledge of Laser and Turrets preferred
- Programming experience preferred
- Must have proven abilities in communication, organization, setting priorities
- Experience with process improvement methodologies to improve efficiency and effectiveness
- Ability to use a PC, in-house software, and Microsoft Office products to effectively administrate and organize departmental objectives
- Prior mechanical training or background. Strong mechanical aptitude

**Knowledge and Skills**:

- US Citizen or Resident Alien Card
- Speaks English
- Knowledge manufacturing technology, machinery, principles, and practices
- Familiarity with standard tools and units of measurement
- Basic math skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide, fractions.)
- Ability to foster a close working relationship with team members and management
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Self-starter.
- Good understanding of mechanical and standardized processes.
- Ability to use problem solving methods and techniques to resolve problems successfully and efficiently.
- Well organized. Ability to work well under pressure, manage competing demands and meet tight deadlines with strong follow through.
- Unlimited or unimpaired ability to walk, bend, stoop, and climb. Ability to lift up to 70 lbs.
- Capacity to work as a member of a team or by oneself to achieve desired results.
- Be able to safely operate a variety of stationery or portable hand and power tools.
- Ability to read, comprehend and utilize work orders, prints, CAD/technical drawings, labor reports, and any numerical data related to effectively managing department outcomes.

Pay: $19.19 - $20.00 per hour
