Position Title**:Evening and Weekend Studies Instructor**

FLSA**:Exempt**

The Evening and Weekend Studies Instructor position provides instructional support for a U.S Department of Labor Job Corps contractor, Human Learning Systems. The Job Corps program is a federally funded residential training program. Job Corps’ mission is toeducate and train youth ages 16 -24 for successful careers in the nation’s fastest-growing industries.

**Summary of Duties**:Plan, prepare, and provide meaningful instruction related to individual student learning goals and objectives.

**Key Areas of Responsibility**:

- Demonstrates the ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with colleagues and students.
- Implements best practices in instruction.
- Utilizes a variety of assessment tools and analyzes student data to develop individualized instruction.
- Collaborates with teams, co-teach lessons, and conducts demonstration teaching.
- Thinks flexibly and adapts lessons to the needs of individual student learning styles.
- Possess knowledge and demonstrates use of 21st Century skills in instruction (analytical thinking, problem solving, communicating, collaborating, and finding and evaluating information)
- Exhibits strong skills in oral and written communication and utilizes technology for communication and instruction.
- Demonstrates organizational skills and initiative for working with mínimal direct supervision.
- Displays evidence of ongoing professional learning and reflective practice to continuously improve student learning and instructional methods.
- Displays enjoyment, humor, and enthusiasm for teaching and creates an environment for students to enjoy learning.

**Description of Duties**:

- Promotes an atmosphere within the classroom/training environment that is positive, safe, and conducive to learning, maximizing student motivation and outcomes.
- Maintains a high degree of effective behavior management within the training area.
- Continue_s_ to stay current on new teaching, instruction, and facilitation techniques.
- Maintains a safe, clean, and clutter-free work environment.
- Conducts assessments to diagnose areas of difficulty; prescribe individual plans.
- Identifies appropriate materials and designs instruction to meet individual student needs by developing curriculum aligned with trade certifications and academics tests (TABE, HSE, HSD).
- Designs curriculum to ensure students obtain their academic and career technical training goals aligned with their MyPACE Career Plan.
- May conducts Pre ACT courses as required.
- Implements an Applied Academics program: Meets with Career Technical Training instructors to identify trade related skills and projects that can be taught and reinforced in an academic setting integrating technical instruction to reading, writing, math, and employability skills.
- Meets with student and CTT instructor to identify and create required accommodations for student’s capabilities.
- Meets with disability accommodations team to review accommodations and make recommendations for changes or modifications to accommodations.
- Obtains outside resources as needed for accommodations for students.
- Maintains accurate record keeping: Records daily attendance, submits ESPs in a timely manner, document student progress for inclusion on the ETA 640 profile.
- Documents student’s progress in case notes at least monthly, utilizing the RAP method.
- Develops curriculum aligned to the center, HLS, and DOL goals. Maintain a lesson plans binder and prepares lesson plans at least two weeks in advance.
- Submits necessary schedule change information.
- Documents student achievements on the Pathway Achievement Record (PAR) and distributes, as necessary.

- Follow curriculum guidelines, to organize academic learning objectives in relation to career technical skills.
