We are currently looking for a Varsity Head Cheer Coach who will be responsible for coaching student athletes in competitive cheerleading techniques to prepare them for events and/or competitions. Position motivates student athletes to develop an appreciation of the sport. show school spirit during all events, exhibit sportsmanship, positive conduct, and high levels of academic achievement.

**What You Will Do**:

- Holds organizational meetings for team prospects and encourages potential athletes to participate in the sport.
- Participates in cheer tryouts with administrative director over activities, cheer coach, and assistant(s)
- Assesses players skills and assigns team positions.
- Develops a regular summer practice schedule and school year practice schedule that includes a minimum of three days per week during the academic year and at least five full weeks during the summer. Organizes practice time to provide both individual and team development.
- Works with the athletic director in scheduling facilities for practices and competition
- Assigns duties to a cheer coach as necessary.
- Coaches and instructs players, individually or in groups, regarding the rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques of the sport.
- Observes players, during competition and practice to determine the needs for individual or team improvement.
- Determines game strategy based on the team's capabilities.
- Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior and provides proper supervision of athletes.
- Monitors the academic performance of team members to ensure that eligibility requirements are met each semester; and encourages student athletes to maintain a high academic standard.
- Follows established procedures in the event of an athlete's injury.
- Conferences with parents/guardians, as necessary, regarding the athletic performance and behavior of their student
- Follows state, regional, and district regulations governing the athletic program
- Models' sportsmanlike behavior and maintains appropriate conduct towards players, officials, and spectators.
- Acts as a team representative and promotes the sport by communicating with the ASS-student council, clubs, parent groups, and other organizations.
- Follows established procedures for the proper care, maintenance, requisitioning of equipment, supplies, and uniforms.
- Works with the administrative director to develop a policy for awards and submits a list of award winners at the end of the season.
- Have a repository of cheers to teach the team so that cheers are fresh and fun for football and basketball games
- Participates in special activities to include parent's night, banquets, award nights, and pep rally assemblies.
- Maintains eligibility forms, emergency information, insurance records, equipment inventory, and other related records.
- Teaches precautions and procedures to ensure safety and help prevent injuries. Promptly document all injuries.
- Models’ good sportsmanship behavior and maintains appropriate conduct towards cheerleaders, parents, officials, and spectators; reports discipline issues and other related concerns to the Administrative Director overseeing cheer.
- Models' nondiscriminatory practices in all activities.
- Model exemplary leadership and always conduct.
- Potentially drive athletes using own vehicle to and from off campus games with provide proof of insurance required.
- Never criticizes, admonishes, or argues with parents, school administrators, or any staff members within ears or eyes of the team or parents.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

**What You Bring**:

- Knowledge and experience in sport
- Previous coaching experience preferred
- Certified Teacher
- All CIF Coaching Requirements
- CPR and 1st Aid Certification
- Must attend all games and practices (including Football & Basketball)
- Competitive Cheer (including stunt competitions starting late Fall and ending late Spring)
- **Required Fundraisers**:

- Throughout the year for uniforms and other gear, gifts for seniors, celebrations and banquets, gifts for advisors and coaches, etc. A fundraiser should be planned by September each year, a Holiday Fundraiser, and one during the Spring for the end of year banquet.
