**Job Summary**: The Unit Secretary facilitates and communicates unit processes in coordination with appropriate members of the health care team. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the performance of clerical and non-clerical duties, greeting and directing customers, accurate transcription of physician orders, scheduling tests, entering charges, ordering supplies and other duties as assigned. In order to facilitate efficient patient throughput, the Unit Secretary will coordinate patient admissions, discharges and transfers, in conjunction with the Director and/or Charge Nurse, Throughput Manager and the Admitting Department. While utilizing multiple data sources, the Unit Secretary along with the Director, is responsible for the four-hour collection and data input for the unit census decision support system. The Unit Secretary must demonstrate a commitment to a team approach, as evidenced by a supportive and positive attitude with both internal and external customers.

**Qualifications**: High school graduate or GED. Previous computer experience. Experience dealing with the public. Medical terminology certificate preferred. Basic computer skills.

**Required Skills, Abilities and Attributes**:Ability to organize and establish day-to-day priorities while utilizing critical thinking skills in all aspects of the job. Must be able to multitask while remaining professional, focused, composed and positive. Excellent customer service skills and must display integrity, friendliness and compassion. Must be able to establish an appropriate and effective rapport with patients, co-workers and medical staff. Must be able to demonstrate effective and appropriate written and oral communication skills. Ability to take and follow direction in a positive and appropriate manner. Must be flexible to take initiative and embrace new opportunities to grow both personally and organizationally. Must be efficient and effective in the use of resources.

Salary Range: $16.23 - $26.65
Pay Grade: 16
Compensation may vary based upon, but not limited to: overall experience and qualifications, shift, and location.Location: Saratoga Hospital - Medical/Surgical/Hospice/Oncology (A3/C3)

Schedule: Full-Time, Day shift, 7am-3pm
