Porter Ranch Family Nanny/family Assistant

**THE FAMILY | **This loving and kind family is seeking a new nanny/family assistant to help with the day-to-day care of their daughter, dogs, and home. The parents work outside the home, and their work commitments require their full attention. They both have commutes and cannot take calls when on the clock, but they can communicate via text.
They need someone comfortable working long days, three days a week. The role requires the nanny to be reliable, punctual, trustworthy, and consistent. The nanny must also be a self-starter and proactive in handling daily and weekly tasks. The family has two dogs, so the nanny has to be dog-friendly.
**THE DAUGHTER | **She is four years old and attends school daily. She is described as bubbly, curious, and affectionate. She has no allergies or dietary restrictions.
She responds best to gentle parenting with boundaries to learn and show respect, general manners, and politeness.
She has TV time twice a day for no more than one hour at a time. While she is watching shows, the nanny is expected to task with helpful supporting items to keep the day-to-day flow moving forward.
**THE PARENTING PHILOSOPHY | **The parents believe in gentle parenting with firm and consistent boundaries. They give their daughter the same rules that they are expected to follow in the house. They want the nanny to implement this philosophy, staying firm with the rules.
**THE JOB DETAILS | **This role is blended. It includes nanny/childcare duties, family assistant tasks, and pet care. The daughter is in school daily, and the family offers hours from 9:30 AM to 1:30 PM to complete the family assistant tasks. Some tasks are daily, and others are weekly.
Childcare: When the daughter is around, she, her care, and her safety are always the top priority.
The expected childcare duties are as follows but are not limited to meal prep, school drop offs/pick ups, cleaning out lunch boxes/backpacks, check for assignments or forms that require parents' signatures; the parents help with homework but need to be told about it, laundry, change bed linens, cleaning and organizing her room/closet, pack/unpack suitcases for travel, take to appointments and extracurricular activities, pick up supplies for projects, etc.
Family Assistant: Grocery shopping, parents’ laundry, light housekeeping, restocking items as needed, running errands, prepping fresh fruits and veggies, emptying the trash/bringing in the garbage cans, taking note of repairs, connecting with vendors, checking the mail, etc.
Pet Care: There are two dogs inside the home. They need a potty break in the backyard two to three times a day. They also need to be fed and their water checked daily. Help with the general maintenance of their areas, including cleaning up their poop.
**THE IDEAL CANDIDATE | **Loves being a nanny. Loves working in blended roles. Knows how and when to pivot between childcare duties and family assistant tasks. Loves dogs and being around them. Genuinely enjoys helping a family with their child, pets, and household.
Friendly and kind. Trustworthy. Reliable. Active and energetic. Enthusiastic about their work. Lives locally.
Anticipates the needs of the girl and family/household. Enjoys being a self-starter. Communicates effectively and efficiently. Understands the parent's work commitments. Understands time management. Knows how to schedule themselves to complete daily and weekly childcare and family assistant tasks.
Respect professional and personal boundaries. Strong command of English, written and verbal. Also speaks Spanish to teach the daughter. (Spanish speaking is not required.)
Proactively learns how to properly use the family’s cookware, appliances, etc. Takes pride in caring for the family’s home.
**REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS**:
At least three years of dedicated experience working as a nanny or family assistant. At least three years of experience caring for preschool/kindergarteners.
Enjoys and is passionate about childcare and supporting families.
Dog friendly - must love dogs.
A strict non-smoking policy is in place for the well-being of the family environment.
This family asks for the standard vaccines that most adults would have had already (tdap, chicken pox, MMR, Hep B, etc).
Has stellar references from previous nanny family employers.
Clear background/driving record
