Job Summary:
Proof Bread is a renowned artisanal bakery dedicated to crafting the finest handcrafted bread and pastries. With a commitment to quality and innovation, we strive to deliver exceptional products to our customers while fostering a culture of creativity and excellence. We are currently seeking full-time and part-time Bakery Apprentices to join our team. This position reports to the Bakery Manager and works closely with teammates and staff at all levels of the organization.

The Bakery Apprentice ensures operational excellence through the quality baking of products, maintains facility cleanliness and organization, sets daily proofs, performs daily food service production, produces various sourdough pastries for all Proof Bread locations, and promotes sales by educating customers on our unique sourdough products.

Key Responsibilities, _include but are not limited to_:

- **Customer Service** *Create aesthetically pleasing product displays to entice customers to make purchases *Greet every customer in an authentically friendly, proactive, and welcoming manner *Have a strong understanding of and educate customers on all Proof products with corresponding talking points to help encourage sales *Actively build relationships with clientele to encourage repeat business and maintain positive reputation for Proof Bread in the community *Promote ways to find, use, and store Proof Bread *Package orders and handle ready-to-eat product with respect and adherence to food safety standards *Craft quality made-to-order coffee and tea beverages for customers *Maintain cleanliness and order of customer areas, restock and face retail fridges, and fill displays *Enter daily inventory for online orders by 7am *Operate a Point of Sale and handle cash with maximum accuracy *Close cash register and customer service areas according to company standards and perform end-of-day reporting *Wash all dishes, sanitize all customer areas and counters, sweep and mop floors *Prepare leftovers and manage community donations at end-of-day closing *Promptly report issues to management or leadership
- **Bakery Production (Pastry)**: *Understand sourdough process and how to judge acceptable fermentation and optimal conditions for lamination and pastry roll out *Process and press butter sheets for lamination and English Muffin dough for shaping using commercial equipment with safety in mind *Operate commercial sheeter to perform stellar sourdough lamination *Operate mixers and follow mixing procedures for cookies, specials, and English Muffins *Roll out, score, and form sourdough pastry in accordance with company standards *Monitor items for quality control and report any issues to management *Work in an organized fashion with an emphasis on time and task management *Consider needs of other departments and prepare for next shift success *Organize products for daily transfer and accurately complete transfer logs *Wash all dishes, sanitize all BOH production counters, sweep and mop floors *Uphold cleanliness of production areas and perform facility and equipment maintenance routines *Operating computer and Excel-based systems for recipes, par management, and sorting and organizing pastry for distribution *Following checklists to safely load and secure trucks for market distribution in timely and detail-oriented manner *Help FOH team with ad-hoc tasks as needed including but not limited to baking bread, baking pastry, topping and finishing pastry, setting displays, preparing food service, stocking retail, running POS and/or customer service

Qualifications:

- Must produce a valid ID and food handling certification
- Must show 2 years of verifiable customer service and cash handling experience
- Must be good multi-tasker, time manager, and team player
- **Must be able to work weekends **and stay until all tasks are completed
- Ability to maintain a friendly attitude and push towards positive conflict resolution
- Position may require safely operating lift gates on box trucks on occasion (training to be provided as needed)
- Should be able to lift 50 lbs without complication
- Must be able to stand for the entirety of a shift

Available shifts and compensation: We have available shifts all days of the week. Compensation is $15.00 - $18.00/hour.
