The Boys & Girls Clubs of Carlsbad is seeking a Basketball Coach for our Sports Programs. This requires coaching a wide range of skills, from our competitive Middle School Basketball teams to our Youth Rec leagues that are made for developing players. At all levels we want kids to get the most out of basketball. 6-15 years old is the age range you will be coaching. Applicant should be passionate about youth sports and invested in helping our kids reach their full potential. We want to develop kids into college level athletes and give them a chance to play at the next level while at the same time making the game enjoyable and fun

**JOB RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Planning Practices
- Promote, encourage, and engage members in program participation
- Monitor and evaluate assigned program areas and alter lesson plans accordingly to keep the program running successfully
- Participate in special programs and/or events
- Ability to make sound, independent judgment when unexpected circumstances arise
- Positive, upbeat, and enthusiastic about working with youth
- Ability to communicate with parents and players in a positive way.

**SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED**:

- Experienced in coaching or working with children and can motivate and correct behavioral issues
- Played Varsity high School Basketball
- Experienced in planning creative and well thought out activities
- Strong communication skills; both verbal and written
- Possess effective leadership skills
- Organized and driven
- A team player who has the ability to motivate members through positive reinforcement
- Able to work independently and with initiative
- Have a Driver's License (If required to drive Club van)
- **Must be available to work 6 days per week**

**HOURS OF OPERATION**: Monday-Friday 2:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.

Saturdays 9am-3pm starting January 6th

**SCHEDULE**: After-school Monday-Friday 2:30 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Part-time 15-30 hours/week
- Hours vary depending on need and availability (with flexibility for camp days and special events). **Must be available to work 5 days per week.**

**Job Type**: Part-time

Pay: $20.00 per hour

Schedule:

- 4 hour shift
- After school
- Monday to Friday

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Carlsbad, CA 92008: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (required)

**Experience**:

- Coaching: 1 year (Preferred not Required)

License/Certification:

- First Aid Certification (Preferred not Required)
- CPR Certification (Preferred not Required)

Work Location: In person

**Job Type**: Part-time

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 15 - 30 per week
