**Job Duties**
- Perform duties as described in the Nurse - RN or LVN Job Description, as applicable
- Assist the Director of Nursing and nursing administration to supervise nursing staff to ensure quality nursing care is provided to all residents. Supports and practices the philosophy, nursing objectives and standards of the Nursing Department.
- Assist the Director of Nursing in providing in-services and staff development to nursing staff in order to meet quality of care standards and comply with state and federal regulations.
- Provide clinical expertise to facilitate and supervise quality of care.
- Identify safety concerns and takes appropriate actions to assure patient safety.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Nursing and/or the Administrator.
- Make regular rounds on nursing units and on all shifts to assess performance of nursing staff and monitor the quality of care provided to residents.
- Assist in developing and/or complying with policies aimed to ensure nursing department compliance with all federal, state and local regulations.
- Participate in internal audits of nursing practices and in developing and implementing a plan of correction when deficits are identified.
- Participate in ensuring all facets of the nursing budget are within established parameters.
- Participate in the quality assessment and improvement process and activities, including monthly audits of MD orders.
- Assist the Director of Nursing in ensuring that the nursing department is adequately staffed to provide quality care to residents, as directed by Director of Nursing and/or Administrator, by assisting with:

- Establishing and facilitating effective employer/employee relations.
- Recruiting and selecting nursing service personnel based on facility need.
- Ensuring forms and processes related to hiring are completed for new employees.
- Ensuring staffing of the nursing department is at a level congruent with resident needs, budgeted positions and employee requests.
- Scheduling nursing manpower to support individual and group activities for residents outside the facility.
- Participating in orientation sessions for nursing service personnel.
- Evaluating performance for all levels of nursing service personnel.
- Participating in “on-call” schedule for nursing supervisory personnel to ensure 24/7 nursing support for staff nurses.
- Assist in ensuring a safe and sanitary environment for residents, employees and visitors.
- Participates in development and implementation of a program to ensure a safe environment for residents, staff and families.
- Investigates all nursing department employee accidents in accordance with procedures outlined in the facility's safety standards.
- Monitors and reviews resident incidents to identify possible compliance issues and to identify patterns that might require preventive intervention.
- Assists in implementation of infection control policies and procedures as outlined in the facility’s program, as directed. Ensures that all nursing staff members are educated and utilize infection control practices for the protection of employees, residents and families. Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Nursing, including:
**Supervisory Responsibility**

This position is delegated the administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability necessary for carrying out the assigned duties. This position oversees nurse aides and is charged with carrying out the resident care policies established by this facility.

**Required Education and Experience**
- Must possess a current, unencumbered, active license to practice as a Licensed Vocational Nurse or Registered Nurse in the State
- 3 years’ experience in a Supervisor role in healthcare, Long-Term Care experience preferred.
- Minimum six (6) months experience in rehabilitative and restorative nursing practices preferred
- Must be knowledgeable of reimbursement regulations and nursing practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines pertaining to nursing facility administration.
- Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action
- Must be able to communicate policies, procedures, regulations, reports, etc., to personnel, residents, family members, visitors, and government agencies
- Strong utilization knowledge of Point Click Care
- Computer literacy skills (Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Office, Internet)
