Allegiant of Mesa is searching for an Infection Preventionist / Staff Development Coordinator to join the clinical team. The Infection Preventionist (IP) is responsible for the infection prevention and control program for the Facility. The IP’s activities are aimed at preventing healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) by ensuring that sources of infections are isolated to limit the spread of infectious organisms. The IP must have completed specialized training in infection prevention and control, or be qualified through education. The Staff Development Coordinator designs or conducts work-related training and development programs to improve skills and organizational performance.

**Job Responsibilities (Infection Preventionist)**:

- Collaborate throughout the Facility ensuring compliance with public health and regulatory standards, pandemic management, staff education, environmental disinfection, antibiotic stewardship, and more.
- Look for patterns and spot clusters of infections with particular focus on infections caused by antibiotic-resistant organisms and/or those associated with invasive procedures and indwelling devices.
- Track infection data and activities to prevent HAIs.
- Integrated evidence-based infection prevention practices into facility-wide policies, guidelines, protocols, and educational strategies.
- Work with the clinical team to limit unnecessary antimicrobial use to prevent the spread of antimicrobial resistance.
- Educate personnel about infectious diseases and how to limit their spread.
- Observe and coach staff on proper hand hygiene, use of PPE, and proper cleaning practices.
- Communicate and consult with public health agencies.
- Report communicable diseases to Maricopa County Department of Public Health, the Arizona Department of Health Services, and the CDC as needed.
- Conduct regular audits and assessments to identify potential infection risks
- Participate in the Quality Assurance Performance Improvement (QAPI) Committee and report on the Facility’s Infection Prevention Control Program (IPCP).

**Job Responsibilities (Staff Development Coordinator)**:

- Develop and implement staff training and education programs.
- Responsible for assuring and maintaining staff competencies.
- Serve as a leader and resource for staff through education, training, supervision, and evaluation.
- Maintain records validating competency and education.
- Assist in preparation for successful AZDHS and CMS surveys.
- Complete Facility audits for regulatory compliance.
- Track required education hours are achieved and maintained for staff.
- Provide Behavior Unit initial and monthly training.
