**What we want**

The Fire and Life Safety Code Compliance Inspector I is responsible for assisting with implementing aspects of the university fire and life safety (FLS) program.

**Salary**:$19.17/hr.

**Required Education and Experience**:

- Associates degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- No required experience.

**Required Licenses and Certifications**:

- A valid driver’s license within 60 days of hire.

**Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities**:

- Knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to conduct the duties of the position; proficient in MS Office.

**Preferred Qualifications**:

- Certified Fire Inspector, Certified Plan Reviewer, Public Safety Educator.

**Essential Duties/Tasks**:
**Compliance and Inspection Support**
- Coordinates the development and annual update of building emergency evacuation plans. Observes and documents/rates evacuation drills.

**Training**
- Develop and conduct various training programs associated with fire and life safety program areas.
- Documents training records.
- Provides input on various outreach and education projects.

**FLS Construction & Special Event Inspection**
- Stays abreast of changes in codes, standards, and procedures.
- Assist other staff with inspections of various FLS system and program areas.
- Collaborates with other personnel in preparation of and during special events that have a need for Fire and Life Safety input.

**Assistance, Events & Emergency Response**
- Assists superiors as needed.
- Collaborates with other personnel in preparation of and during special events that have a need for Fire and Life Safety input.
