**Certified Veterinary Technician**

As a CVT, working in a specialized Veterinary of Dermatology Clinic you hold a key role in the practice, managing the technical workload. Effectively interface with front staff, staff, clients and veterinarian. Strong technical and animal handling skills, organization skills, operational knowledge and the ability to lift 50 pounds and to stand for extended periods. Effective at handling client appointments, managing procedures, preparing patients for procedures, and assist in the procedure. Our position requires practical knowledge of records, and terminology used in veterinary.

The VT is the Veterinarians primary support in Clinical. Assist in pet restraint, lab work, dispensing of prescriptions, procedures, triage, discharge of patients, empathy and follow-up. Be on time and present, loyal, and honest. Possess good dexterity, patience and professionalism at all times.

**Duties**:

- Assist veterinarian in medical procedures using proper restraint; know how to restrain fractious patients
- Allergy Testing, ear and suction flush, and biopsies
- Allergen Immunotherapy
- Accurately enter communications and history using Cornerstone Software
- Weigh pet at each visit and record weight
- Maintain and use the in-house laboratory; maintain medical equipment such as IDEXX Laser Cyte, Catalyst One, Sedivue, and Autoclave to perform routine laboratory procedures and analyses in H4ematology, Microbiology, Urinalysis, Serology, and Stock supplies, record results
- Fill prescriptions; dispense, and/or mail including allergens
- Prepare samples for outside laboratory analysis
- Monitor patients under anesthesia
- Induce anesthesia and intubate patient
- Administer treatments and injections following the instructions of the doctor
- Maintain pharmacy records, and controlled drug, anesthesia, dermatophyte and heartworm test logs
- Take vital signs of animals including temperature, pulse and respiration
- Perform and analyze skin and ear cytology
- Perform IV Catheterization-Urinary, Venipunctures and Venous
- Prepare and maintain the exam rooms, treatment area and your work area/space
- Always help to assist in maintaining a clean and orderly facility
- Meet safety standards and follow safety procedures
- Maintain the safety and welfare of patients at all times.

**Education and Experience**:

- Completion from an accredited school as a Veterinary Technician (preferred)
- Previous on-the-job training and animal care experience
- Continuous Education is encouraged.

Pay: $22.00 - $25.00 per hour
