**Who We Are**:
As part of the Mayor’s Office of Workforce Development, Youth Options Unlimited Boston (YOU Boston) is a youth development program that specializes in providing case management services and career development opportunities to Boston-area teens and young adults.

YOU Boston serves young people ages 14-24, who may be court-involved, gang-affiliated, or at-promised. All of the young people we work with are dealing with barriers to stable employment and educational attainment. However, there is no typical YOU Boston member. Our clients come from a diverse spectrum in regards to their home life, education status, court involvement, and work history. Every young person we employ is held to high standards of professionalism, commitment, and attendance.

Position: Culinary Arts Supervisor

Reports To: Assistant Deputy Director of Career Services

Supervisors must be able to effectively facilitate and supervise daily industry focused projects and workshops for a cohort of 10-15 youth participants. **Supervisors must commit to YOU Boston's 7-weeks summer career exploration program which includes a 2-week staff training. In total, this role will operate for 9 weeks. From Monday, June 24th to July 5th, 2024 staff will conduct training and orientation. Staff training is followed by 7-weeks of youth programming beginning on Monday, July 8th, 2024, and ending on Friday, August 23rd, 2024.** Extension opportunities for fall programming are available based on performance.

The daily duties of the Culinary Supervisor include, but are not limited to:

- Guide a cohort of 10 to 15 participants between the ages of 14 and 24 in Culinary based workshops and enrichment five days a week
- Guide participants through different elements of training and project-based learning related to the Culinary industry
- Create and lead dynamic daily check-in and check-out sessions, including ice breakers, team building activities, mindfulness activities, videos, music, hot topic discussions, and other appropriate activities and techniques
- Support in the execution of lesson plans, including daily hands-on activities and projects
- Conduct safety checks with youth participants
- Identify duties for cohort Peer Leader
- Record participant attendance and case notes daily in our ETO database system as well as utilizing Google Drive
- Complete end-of-the-summer evaluations and assessments on each participant
- Encourage complex thinking, participation, and discussion by all youth participants
- Monitor youth participants' weekly progress
- Work independently and report to the Assistant Deputy Director of Career Services
- Work collaboratively with YOU Boston staff to ensure the safety and progress of all youth participants

**Requirements and Notes for Consideration**:
We are looking for strong and creative leaders; those with experience and/or an interest in working with young people. This position requires a high level of organizational and interpersonal skills. Applicants must be able to efficiently design and lead workshops, manage a project, work collaboratively as part of a team, and communicate effectively with staff and youth.
- Driver’s license
- Bachelor’s Degree or that with at least two years of experience working with teens preferred
- The schedule is Monday - Friday, 9:00 am - 3:00 pm (30-minute unpaid break)
- Preferred bachelor’s degree or proof of certification training in at least one of the following areas: Political Science, Juvenile Justice, Social Work, Culinary
- Hourly Pay is $23.00 at 28 hours per week, Monday through Friday 9:00 am to 3:00 pm
- Can be in-person, on site Tuesday through Thursday
