**Teacher Expectations**

**Key Responsibilities**:

- **Art Instruction**:

- Plan and deliver engaging and age-appropriate art lessons for students in grades K-8.
- Foster creativity, self-expression, and appreciation for art in all students.
- Maintain a tidy and structured space that highlights student safety and creativity
- **Student Activities Coordination**:

- Collaborate with teachers and staff to plan and execute engaging events that enrich the school community including events that help foster community building during lunch time.
- Supervise said activities when needed.
- **Breakfast Club Supervision**:

- Set up continental breakfast items and art activities for our MDA Breakfast Club.
- Supervise students from 7:15 am - 7:55 am during the Breakfast Club program M/T/TH/F.
- Manage clean-up and ensure a safe and welcoming environment for students.
- **Field Trip Organization**:

- Identify and plan field trips to local art experiences, museums, and cultural sites.
- Coordinate logistics, obtain necessary permissions, and ensure the safety and well-being of students during field trips.
- **Parent Communication**:

- Maintain open and effective communication with parents regarding student activities, events, and field trips.
- **Event Planning**:

- Plan, organize, and execute school events in conjunction with appropriate school administrators, staff, and teachers, ensuring they align with the school’s mission and values.
- Manage event logistics, including venue booking, vendor coordination, and budget management.
- **Community Engagement**:

- Engage with the local community to foster partnerships and support for school activities and events.
- Collaborate with local artists and organizations to enrich the school’s art program and student experiences.

**Qualifications**:

- Bachelor’s degree in Art Education, Fine Arts, or related field.
- Experience teaching art to students in K-8.
- Experience working with students from historically underserved communities.
- Event planning experience, preferably in an educational setting.
- Ability to organize and supervise student activities and field trips.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in English and Spanish (preferred).
