**How you make a difference**:
As a Shift Lieutenant, you will be responsible for supervising all security and control-related functions and staff during your duty shift to ensure maximum facility coordination regarding resident supervision and safety. Your role will involve the preparation of required records and reports to maintain accurate documentation of all security and control activities. You will be accountable for maintaining a safe and secure environment within the facility and ensuring that all staff are following proper protocols and procedures.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Developing and implementing policies, procedures, and regulations for custody, security, and treatment of residents.
- Conducting shift briefings, monitoring staff interaction with residents, and evaluating resident behavior and interactions.
- Directing the work of other employees, including employee training/development, performance evaluations, and disciplinary action.
- Preparing records and reports, maintaining daily logs, and ensuring compliance with all contract requirements, regulations, rules, policies, and/or procedures for security operations.
- Providing guidance on situational problems, resolving resident complaints, and performing inspections of work performed by security staff.

**Qualifications & Requirements**:
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent certification required.
- College coursework and advanced training in behavioral sciences, correctional services or related field preferred.

Experience
- Three (3) years of experience working in a correctional or secure treatment facility. One (1) supervisory experience preferred.

Licenses/Certifications
- Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) certification as a Correctional Officer.

Compliance
- Be at least 19 years of age.
- Be a citizen of the United States
- Not have been convicted of any felony or of a misdemeanor involving perjury or false statement, nor have received a dishonorable discharge from any of the Armed Forces of the United States. Any person who, after July 1, 1981, pleads guilty or nolo contendere to or is found guilty of a felony or of a misdemeanor involving perjury or a false statement shall not be eligible for employment or appointment as an officer, notwithstanding suspension of a sentence or withholding of adjudication.
- Fingerprinted by the employing agency.
- Have passed a physical examination by a licensed physician.
- Be of good moral character.
- Must be mature, flexible, intellectually alert, and able to command the respect and confidence of residents and staff, philosophically committed to the objectives of the facility, and possess a high tolerance to mental stress.
- Ability to obtain certification for training such as CPR, First Aid and firearms.
- Willingness and ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends.
