About the job

The Operator Maintenance Technician (OMT) is responsible for performing highly diversified duties relating to installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining facility equipment according to safety, predictive and productive maintenance systems and processes to support the achievement of the site’s business goals and objectives.

The key functions of this role include, but are not limited to:
Exercise safe work practices and support a safe work culture, follow all OSHA and company safety standards

Maintain required qualifications, safety and training certifications and site-specific requirements

Install, Operate and Maintain Northern Biogas equipment including pumps, motors, mixers, general equipment, etc.

Perform various maintenance and housekeeping tasks, such as painting, cleaning, and general grounds work

Plan, schedule, and supervise service projects including contractors/vendors on job sites, as deemed necessary

Maintain positive relationships and communications with supporting farms and customers

Complete and document contracted inspections of equipment at digester and RNG facilities

Utilize inventory, work order and maintenance systems and track all maintenance and repair activities

Assist with vendor communications, including ordering, tracking, and receiving materials and equipment

Familiarity with the operation and maintenance of various pumps, motors, mixers, blowers, and other rotating equipment that may be electrical, pneumatic, or hydraulic driven

Experience with construction equipment such as scissor lifts, aerial lifts, and telehandlers

Willingness to comply with company safety standards and requirements

Willingness to encourage a safe workplace culture

Ability to responsibly operate a variety of hand and power tools

Ability to achieve thoroughness and accuracy when accomplishing a task

Capable of taking direction, working independently, and operating as a team

Ability to confidently make decisions, troubleshoot and solve problems

Project a positive attitude, and maintain a professional demeanor

Demonstrated independent work initiative

Position Requirements:
Valid driver's license

Strong written and verbal communication skills

High School diploma or GED

Willing to submit to pre-employment drug screen and background check

Position Preferences:
Knowledge of Microsoft Office software, Google and/or PC programs

Associates degree or technical certification in an applicable field (electrical, mechanical, or industrial), or military experience

3+ years of experience in any combination industrial facility operations, solid waste management, wastewater management, landfill operations, pipeline or natural gas operation, landfill gas systems, digester systems, or other related industry

Wastewater, Landfill or Municipal Waterworks Operator Certification

Work Environment and Physical Demands:
Work occurs both indoors and outdoors. As a result, this role requires occasional work in temperatures above 100° and below 32°

Exposure to gases (methane, hydrogen sulfide) at low levels. *Employees are each issued a gas meter to ensure safe levels at all times

Noise level in the work environment may go up to 120dB (generator) for short periods of time. *Appropriate hearing protection is provided

Work in permit required confined spaces may occasionally be necessary

May walk on slippery or uneven surfaces

Will climb ladders and work off elevated surfaces on an occasional basis

Ability to continuously stand or walk

Ability to bend, squat, climb stairs and lift frequently

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

Work Schedule:
Full time, rotating on-call schedule; availability on weekends and holidays required

Work activities will be outside 90% of the time, and may require working in inclement weather

Position will require moderately strenuous activity, including lifting and walking pipeline rights-of-way

Work will be extensively in the field at locations including farms, digesters, food waste, RNG, landfills and other industrial related sites

Because of the nature of our work, it may be necessary for you to work overtime on occasion to maintain desired service/performance levels. Overtime is intended to meet critical needs only and must be authorized by the Supervisor

Pay: $30.00 - $35.00 per hour
