Bishop McNamara High School is a private, Catholic co-educational high school in the Holy Cross tradition, offering its students a challenging college preparatory curriculum and a complete range of athletics and activities. The school is located in Forestville, Maryland, about 10 minutes from Washington, D.C.

**JOB SUMMARY**:
**Requirements**:
**ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Selecting and obtaining rights to appropriate plays and musicals for high school productions.
- Developing rehearsal schedules and production timelines.
- Directing rehearsals and providing guidance to actors and crew members.
- Overseeing set design, costume design, lighting, sound, and other production elements.
- Ensuring adherence to budget constraints and safety protocols.
- Instructing theater classes, including acting, stagecraft, and theater history.
- Providing constructive feedback to students to help them improve their skills.
- Mentoring student directors, designers, and technicians.
- Encouraging artistic growth and fostering a supportive and inclusive environment for all students.
- Collaborating with the theater teacher and other faculty members to integrate theater into the broader curriculum.
- Partnering with parent volunteers and community organizations to support theater program activities.
- Promoting theater productions within the school community and beyond.
- Organizing and participating in events such as fundraisers, showcases, and theater festivals.
- Building positive relationships with parents, alumni, and local theater professionals.

- Bachelor’s degree in Theater Arts, Performing Arts, or related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Previous experience directing theater productions, preferably in an educational setting.
- Strong knowledge of theater production techniques, including acting, stagecraft, and technical elements.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to inspire and motivate high school students of diverse backgrounds.
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends during production periods.
- Commitment to creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment.

**LOCATION/TRAVEL**:While Bishop McNamara High School is located in Forestville, MD, you may live anywhere in the surrounding region, but be willing to make any commute to the school.
