Half-time Grounds/maintenance

**Title**: Grounds/Maintenance Reports to: Director of Buildings and Grounds, Athletic Director, and Principals Qualifications and Responsibilities: 1. High School Diploma or Equivalent (i.e., GED); minimum of 2 years custodial experience. 2. General working knowledge of the skills and trades necessary to perform the work.

**Specifically, but not limited to**: snowplowing and sanding, turf care and mowing, mechanical and maintenance of equipment needed to perform the tasks. 3. General knowledge of facilities, equipment, operating and maintenance procedures. 4.

Working knowledge of tools and equipment necessary to perform the work. 5. Ability to work independently and in a team setting. 6.

Dependability, flexibility. 7. Must hold current drivers license. 8.

Able to communicate effectively with others. 9. Willing to have a flexible schedule/shift to accommodate seasonal challenges and needs of the District. 10.

Other qualifications as may be deemed appropriate for successful performance in the position. Essential Job Functions: The essential job functions or duties listed below are intended only as an illustration of the various types of work that may be performed. Maintain the grounds and exterior property of SAU # 36 in operational condition based on safety, performance, aesthetics and overall conditions including but not limited to: roadways, sidewalks, playgrounds, fields, trails, lawns, culverts, drains, athletic fields and practice areas, and any other property and structures that may reasonably fall under this category. 2. Winter snow removal and sanding to maintain roadways and walkways in a safe condition especially at the opening and closing of the school days and events. Seasonal mowing and upkeep of grounds and fields to maintain a safe, playable, and visually appealing campus.

3. Work with the director of buildings and grounds, athletic directors, and coaches to plan, implement, and maintain seasonal schedules including lay out and marking of fields as needed. 4. Work with the director of buildings and grounds, athletic directors, principals, and coaches to plan, implement, and maintain improvements and changes to fields and practice areas in the best interests of the students and district.

5. Maintain and assist in maintenance of the cross country trail system. 6. Maintain all tools and equipment necessary to perform the work intended.

Participate in periodic playground inspection and maintenance. 9. Perform any other reasonable tasks requested by the director of buildings and grounds, principals and/or AD. 10.

Willingly attend and participate in training sessions and workshops to improve job skills. 11. Work with other staff to help maintain a safe, clean, and pleasant environment in the district. 12.

Flexible work shifts/schedules according to seasonal grounds/maintenance needs of SAU # 36 Physical Requirements: 1. Ability to climb ladders and stairs 2. Ability to pick up and carry 65 pounds 3. Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time 4.

Ability to shovel snow, ice and dirt 5. Ability to lift and reach overhead 6. Ability to work using scaffolding, mechanical lifts, and District vehicles 7. Ability to tolerate expose to cleaning, chemicals, and compounds 8.

Ability to communicate effectively 9. Ability to work irregular hours that may interrupt sleep
