The person in this **Weather Observer **position will support a team that operates the VSFB Representative Weather Observatory (RWO) during airfield operating hours (normally, Monday through Friday, 0730 to 1700 hours local time) to include after-hour or weekend support when the airfield is open, to perform upper air and surface observations consistent with AFMAN 15-111 and AFMAN 15-124, FMH- 3, and IAW 30 SWI 15-101 or supporting OPLANs.

Venturi, LLC, a Chenega company (Venturi) has an exciting career opportunity for a **Weather Observer**. person in this **Weather Observer **position will support a team that operates the VSFB Representative Weather Observatory (RWO) during airfield operating hours (normally, Monday through Friday, 0730 to 1700 hours local time) to include after-hour or weekend support when the airfield is open, to perform upper air and surface observations consistent with AFMAN 15-111 and AFMAN 15-124, FMH- 3, and IAW 30 SWI 15-101 or supporting OPLANs.

**Responsibilities**:

- Report and receive direction from the prime contractor’s Weather Systems
- Support completion of an upper air observation using computer data This assignment requires the attention of one certified observer from the time of instrument preflight through the final transmission of data (approximately 3 hours).
- Serve as a certified surface observer on duty during operating hours to maintain the basic surface weather observation program OR as a trained, qualified, and experienced observer to accomplish surface observations and balloon schedules.
- Support airfield operations during non-normal (Except on normal federal holidays, the airfield is open between 0730L (local) and 1700L Monday through Friday).
- Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

- High school diploma or GED equivalent and 2+ years of experience or a relevant bachelor’s degree
- Current weather advisor certification (NFI) or at least 2+ years of experience with a Department of Defense (DoD), Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), or National Weather Service (NWS) agency in taking, recording, encoding, and disseminating surface observations using Meteorological Aviation Report (METAR) code
- At least 20/20 vision or visual acuity correctable to 20/20 with glasses or contact lenses
- Background check required

**Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities**:

- Work to analyze and resolve
- Working knowledge of weather advisory systems and airfield missions at
- Familiarity with DoD processes and
- Ability to work in a high-paced environment while coordinating with co-workers and
- Proficient with Microsoft software
- Ability to execute and complete tasks without
- Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays
