Job Details:
Clinical Nurse Specialists are expert clinicians in a specialized area of nursing practice. The specialty may be identified as disease or level of care settings. In addition to providing direct patient care, Clinical Nurse Specialists influence care outcomes by providing expert consultation, education and evidence-based practice to staff. The Clinical Nurse Specialist integrates nursing practice and leads nursing research, in the prevention or resolution of illness, and treatment of disease, injury, and disability.

**Job Duties**:

- Directs clinical practice to include expertise in advanced assessment, implementing nursing care, and evaluating outcomes. Provides direct and indirect care to complex patients in collaboration with staff.
- Helps nurses integrate new evidence into practice by expert coaching, guidance and modeling clinical expertise Emphasis is on mentoring and preceptor development of nurses. Provides support to day and night shift in response to professional development needs.
- Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team. Leads the interdisciplinary healthcare team to solve specific patient care problems to achieve hospital, departmental and unit goals.
- Serves as both an internal and external consultant in assigned nursing expertise. Consultation involves reviewing alternative approaches and implementing planned change.
- Uses nursing research involving the interpreting, evaluating evidence-based-practice, and collaborating in research. Conducts nursing research projects based on identified issues within the nursing department and participates in departmental research efforts.
- Assures state of the art of nursing care with direct involvement in developing techniques, trialing equipment and standardizing care. Demonstrates clinical and professional leadership with assuming the responsibility for innovation and change in patient care.
- Influences ethical decision-making in negotiating moral dilemmas, allocating resources, directing patient care and access to care.
- Facilitates the development, implementation and update of policy procedures, standards/guidelines of nursing care practice. Works with leadership in all services departments to accomplish this goal.
- Leads discussions regarding practice issues. Attends and participates in assigned committees, unit councils or unit meetings.
- Develops implements and evaluates teaching strategies for a specific patient population in collaboration with staff, physicians and management. Provides education or teaching skills to patients and family.
- Coordinates learning needs assessment for staff and provides in the moment education and contributes to the formal continuing education programs in accordance with the SFH policies and procedures.
- Maintains expertise by attendance of continuing education activities and demonstrates professional involvement.
- Participates in nursing professional organization and achieves and maintains national nursing certification.
- Amplifies, magnifies, and clarifies ANA standards and Magnet Philosophy and upholds the SFH Professional Nursing Practice Model.

**Requirements**:
Education: Master's Degree in Nursing
Licensure/Certification: NYS RN license, National Nursing Certification, ACLS, BLS, FCCS, PALS, Chemotherapy, IV and VAD access competent
Experience: Demonstrated 5 years clinical expertise and leadership skills. Knowledgeable in ANA: Scope Nursing Practice, Code of Ethics, Professional Development, and Advanced Practice Nursing.

Posted Salary Range: USD $59.04 - USD $89.63 /Hr.:
