**Department Purpose**

The Business Operations and Services unit of Student Housing and Dining Services provides students and summer conference guests university home options through seamless operational processes and exemplary service. Over 15,000 student contracts and leases for family and graduate apartments, single undergraduate apartments, and residence hall rooms are managed, with an annual revenue budget of $140+ million dollars. Residence Halls are used to accommodate conference housing guests during the summer, to maximize income and provide extended stay opportunities for potential students and guests of UC Davis programs.

**WORK ENVIRONMENT**
- This position may at times require the incumbent to work with or be in areas where hazardous materials and/or infectious diseases are present. Special hazards of the position may be exposure to chicken pox, hepatitis B and/or other infectious diseases.
- Work overtime to meet deadlines. Limited vacation during peak work
- Work in a busy and sometimes noisy work environment with periodic interruptions.
- Valid CA driver’s license required. Position will participate in the department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) Pull Notice System.

**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS**

**Minimum Education/Experience**:

- Experience establishing goals and workload priorities, handling multiple tasks and complex projects simultaneously with conflicting priorities and meeting deadlines, and flexibility in dealing with people and competing demands.
- Experience recruiting, selecting, training, supervising, and evaluating employees. Demonstrated leadership experience to chair meetings, problem-solve, and evaluate business needs.
- Experience performing high-level analytical work, analyzing and presenting complex data, conducting independent research, and making strategic recommendations; and managing occupancy planning to meet budgetary commitments.
- Experience effectively interacting with and offering a high level of customer service to individuals of varying backgrounds and perspectives to research and secure information to resolve problems. Demonstrated experience leading discussions, public speaking, and interfacing with students, parents, and staff.
- Experience preparing a variety of correspondence, reports, policies and procedures, agreements, training documents, and performance evaluations.
- Knowledge of and experience reviewing, updating, and crafting contractual agreements.

**Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA)**:

- Computer skills to utilize various software programs such as word processing, spreadsheets, and database management programs.

**PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS**

**Preferred Education/Experience**:

- Experience using student housing management systems and UC Davis financial and student information systems.
- Experience in maintaining confidentiality of sensitive issues/matters, to handle difficult situations diplomatically, and to work effectively and sensitively with constituents from diverse backgrounds and perspectives.
- Experience with apartment management and Public Private Partnerships (P3), and knowledge of the principles, practices, and trends of student housing management, marketing, and services.

**Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA)**:

- Organization skills to work effectively, achieve timely progress on multiple simultaneous projects, distribute effort among projects, and meet deadlines.
