**Child and Family Advocate**

**Position Summary**

This position was created in response to the needs of families currently involved with early childhood programs, offering resources and support in a holistic manner for all members of the family. The primary role is to walk along side of the families we serve providing them with an opportunity to develop a family-driven plan to address any barriers to education while promoting education and career development for family members. The Child and Family Advocate will serve as this connection piece by developing relationships with families, addressing immediate and more long-term needs, assisting families in accessing further support systems, and encouraging families on the pathway to success and the creation of a stable foundation.

**Responsibilities**

**Family Support**

1. Identify and document educational goals of families using the Parent Gauge assessment.

2. Conduct the Social Determinants of Health Assessment to identify family needs and connect them with appropriate resources.

3. Provide resources to encourage family involvement in their children’s education, including home visits and assistance with parent-teacher conferences.

4. Act as an advocate for families to facilitate meaningful communication with the school.

5. Ensure integration of family engagement techniques per the Parent Family and Community Engagement Framework.

**Partnership Management**

1. Report to the Community Support Manager and maintain a productive relationship.

2. Build and maintain relationships with school personnel, families, and the community to foster a collaborative environment.

3. Coordinate with the La Escuelita director, teachers, and community agencies to implement services.

**Community Engagement**

1. Facilitate the school's efforts in partnering with community agencies to align resources.

2. Assist families during transitions to new educational settings.

3. Support recruitment and enrollment initiatives.

**Data Collection and Reporting**

1. Perform assessments to determine the necessary support services for families.

2. Submit monthly reports on service delivery and outcomes to the Community Support Navigator.

**Program Development**

1. Attend and participate in various school-related and community events.

2. Secure necessary documents for school enrollment transitions.

**Qualifications**
- Associate’s degree in human services or related field or equivalent employment experience.
- Proficient in using technology as a management reporting tool and experience working with information technology staff to develop and implement program evaluation systems.
- Strong project management skills managing complex, multifaceted projects resulting in measurable successes and program growth.
- Basic understanding of issues facing people in poverty and crisis with a commitment and desire to assist individuals and families achieve stability, health, wholeness, and independence.
- Proven communication and interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to interact positively with individuals, colleagues, and collateral agencies.
- At least two-year experience in customer services and staff management. Experience working with low-income populations preferred.
- Experience having worked with a high-performance, collaborative, constructive peer group.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Computer proficiency, especially with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
- Bi-lingual in Spanish required

**Job Type**: Temporary
