The Sanitation Technician for the Rendering Department is responsible for cleaning and sanitizing the equipment utilized during rendering to ensure Sanitation Standard Operation Procedures (SSOP) are met.

**ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES**

Clean and sanitize production equipment, machines, and work areas to establish a clean, sanitized, and safe working environment.

Clean-In-Place Procedure
- Start Clean-In-Place (CIP) process to remove residue from the interior surfaces of pipes, vessels, production equipment, filters and associated fittings. CIP process cleans the interior surfaces of the equipment by controlling temperature, concentration of cleaning agent, contact time of cleaning agent, and pressure exerted by the cleaning solution. Throughout the sanitation process, monitor CIP process to ensure proper cleaning of the internal components.
- Physically remove fat product from the rendering equipment into containers.
- Weight and document fat product destined for Inedible Products.
- Cover sensitive equipment such as sensors and electrical outlets on the rendering equipment.
- Lock out any moveable parts in the rendering process and verify “Lock-Out” process prior to disassembly.
- Disassemble rendering equipment that is not being cleaned during the CIP Process.
- Pre-rinse disassembled equipment with hot water using hoses.
- Scrub all surfaces of the equipment carefully to remove and clean unwanted debris.

Full Shutdown Process
- Following the completion of the CIP Process, begin full shutdown process to clean external parts of the rendering equipment.
- Reassure and verify lockout of rendering equipment.
- Follow SSOP process to clean external parts for the rendering equipment.
- Visually inspect the rendering equipment for unwanted debris and verify CIP process has properly sanitized the internal components of the rendering equipment.
- Change into new uniforms prior to reassembly of the rendering equipment.
- Aid in other departments as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience

Any combination of education and experience likely to provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities, typically:

- High School Diploma or GED.
- 0-6 months combination of education and experience.
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

- Office and plant setting: The plant environment will include wet or humid conditions (non-weather related), extreme cold and heat (non-weather related), working near moving mechanical parts, exposure to fumes or airborne particles, and chemicals.

Pay: $20.00 - $23.00 per hour
