Director of Winter Study

The Director of Winter Study will be responsible for mounting the Winter Study curriculum each year. The Director will recruit instructors to teach a three-week Winter Study course; coordinate independent student research projects; partner with other offices that mount Winter Study internships and faculty-travel courses; and staff the Winter Study Program Committee, a committee that vets Winter Study course proposals. The Director will work closely with Williams alumni, who may be eager to participate in the Winter Study Program in some way.
- ResponsibilitiesThe Director of Winter Study will report to the Senior Associate Dean of Academic Engagement. The responsibilities of the Director include, but are not limited to:

- Creating a Winter Study curriculum that promotes experiential learning, student exploration, life-planning, and wellness.
- Vetting potential Winter Study instructors and their courses.
- Reviewing student independent project proposals and communicating those decisions.
- Managing the Winter Study Program Committee, whose membership consists of faculty, staff, and students.
- Collaborating closely with directors of co-curricular programs, cross-campus partners, and faculty leaders to ensure the Winter Study program supports strategic initiatives.
- Assessing the Winter Study curriculum annually to identify new opportunities for students to pursue.
- Preparing and reconciling budgets and reports as appropriate.
- Qualifications- Master’s Degree and at least 5 years of relevant experience, with a focus on designing and implementing educational programs.
- Proven project management skills.
- Ability to work with new instructors, including those without formal experience in academic instruction.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe, and Google Suite programs.
- Ability to comfortably present to diverse groups of students, faculty, staff, and college stakeholders.

Application review will begin on May 22, 2024, and will continue until the position is filled. Pay range is from $85,000 to $100,000, commensurate with experience. Job band 2-D.
