JOB PURPOSE:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Reporting directly to the Chief Investment Officer CIO, the Director of Investments performs the following essential duties and responsibilities:
Collaborate with the CIO and colleagues in the Investment Office to source and conduct due diligence on prospective investments across asset classes. This position will initially focus on marketable (hedge funds and public equity) investment opportunities.
- Maintain a robust and creative pipeline of investment opportunities for potential inclusion in the College’s investment portfolio.
- Enhance the College’s investment monitoring and underwriting processes.
- Actively network with investment managers, peers, and other industry professionals.

Prepare and present recommendations regarding investment decisions and asset class updates to the investment team and the Investments Committee.

Contribute to developing investment strategies and priorities, including strategic and tactical asset allocation decisions.

Monitor and evaluate portfolio positions, organizational changes, performance, and risks of the active fund managers.

Collaborate with and assist campus groups like Sagehen Capital Management or the Committee on Social Responsibility.

Help build the team’s reputation for professional excellence and credibility both inside the college and throughout the investment management community.

Perform special projects/tasks/duties and provide assistance as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education: Strong academic credentials are required; an MBA, CFA, or other advanced degree is highly preferred.- Five to ten years of related finance and investment work experience in positions of increasing responsibility is required. Endowment management experience in a higher education or other non-profit setting is desired. 0

Deploy professional investment and financial management skills in collaboration with colleagues to best promote the College’s strategic interests.- Knowledgeable and competent in major aspects of finance and investments.- Must have a high degree of professional discretion, integrity, good judgment, high standards of professional conduct, and the ability to establish credibility throughout the College.- Willing and able to make complex, timely, and financially responsible decisions.- Effective, fair, and committed to a transparent decision-making process.

Demonstrate effective, accurate, and clear communication with excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, reading, and leadership skills.

Handle all activities and highly confidential information with patience, discretion, good judgment, courtesy, and tact while working with people from a wide variety of backgrounds.

Prioritize and perform multiple projects/tasks, meet deadlines/timelines, respond to others promptly, and work both independently and as a collaborative member of the College with a high standard of integrity and ethics in support of the College’s strategic vision and the division’s/department’s annual goals.

Use exceptional organizational, time management, and quantitative analytical skills to complete work with accuracy and a keen attention to detail.

REQUIRED HOURS:
The regular hours for this full-time position are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday - Friday. Holiday, weekend, and evening work hours may be required. Regular hours may vary due to the needs of the College or division. After an initial period in the office, this position is eligible to work remotely two days a week, with the CIO’s approval.

ANNUAL SALARY:
The annual salary for this role is between $270,000 and $310,000 plus incentive compensation and a competitive benefits package. The specific factors that the College will consider when offering a salary to an individual will include, but not be limited to: education, training, relevant prior experience, and performance in prior roles.
