**About UFW Foundation**:For 18 years, the UFW Foundation has mobilized farm workers and their organizations across the country to advocate for more equitable policies, such as immigration reform, pesticide protections, heat standards, hazard pay and other worker protections. We engage constituents in systemic change to break the cycle of poverty while also providing critical services. In fact, the UFW Foundation is the largest federally accredited immigration legal service provider in the state of California. The organization has staff in California, Arizona, Georgia, Illinois, and Michigan.

This position also supports the Civic Empowerment Coalition (CEC), an affiliated 501(c)(4) organization. While motivated by the same core values, the UFW Foundation and CEC operate independently of one another, and each organization has its own board of directors.

The State Director will oversee civic engagement activities and ensure that staff canvass farm worker and Latino neighborhoods to increase voter turnout. The State Director will (1) oversee Organizing Coordinators, Organizers, and/or volunteers to ensure successful canvassing activities, civic engagement workshops, events/town halls and integrative voter engagement activities; and (2) ensure Organizing Coordinators and/or Organizers maintain key partnerships with local students, business leaders, community members, civic leaders, and grassroots organizations.

This position will work closely with the Organizing Director, farm worker movement organizations, and other grassroots organizations to maximize the UFW Foundation’s and CEC’s presence and impact in moving rural community issues at the national and state levels.

**ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS**: (This is not an exhaustive list)

Administrative and Management
- Administrative tasks and logistics, as needed.
- Assist with budget preparation and monitoring for all Michigan organizing-related activities and ensure appropriate tracking of expenses.
- Complete daily and weekly reports on progress.
- Develop training and other materials as necessary.
- Input voter contact information and pledge forms.
- Maintain a ‘Sí Se Puede®’ mindset and attitude through the campaign.
- Maintain knowledge of and promote technical assistance clearinghouse to communities.
- Manage Michigan organizing timelines and effective completion of deliverables, while ensuring timely reporting to the Organizing Director or a designated team lead supervised by the Organizing Director.
- Manage the hiring, training, work, implementation, and ongoing meetings of the regional Organizing Coordinators and/or Organizers, as well as canvassers and/or volunteers. This includes coordinating schedules, training, and holding team meetings (daily shift check-ins and debriefs), etc.
- Monitor and track the progress of community activities, voter engagement outcomes, and meet all campaign goals and metrics to the extent possible
- Must be able to travel regularly within Latino communities as assigned.
- Must be able to work weekends and afternoons.
- Participate and complete all required training, organizational strategy conversations, as well as strategic conversations with stakeholders.
- Serve as the first point of contact for technical assistance to provide resources to communities via workshops, technical assistance calls, webinars, and other methods of education and information dissemination.

Advocacy and Organizing
- Advance Michigan focused goals using a variety of proven research, advocacy, organizing and program implementation techniques.
- Coordinate 2024 voter engagement activities, including: phone banking, voter registration drives, door-to-door canvassing, and community education and outreach.
- Disseminate information and policy issue commentary to internal and external stakeholders.
- Document community-led activities and narratives for social media channels.
- Establish and build key partnerships with local students, business leaders, community members, civic leaders, and grassroots organizations.
- Identify, recruit, and orient volunteers and community leaders.
- Increase and engage farm worker and Latino voter turnout through Get-Out-The-Vote (GOTV) strategies.
- Lead implementation of community, state, and partner events, activities, meetings, briefings, and webinars.
- Lead planning of civic engagement and organizing events (house meetings, community meetings, town-halls).
- Lead the facilitation of a complex coalition and build stakeholder consensus.
- Monitor state and local level policies and possess a deep understanding of the policy landscape in the State of Michigan.
