**Intelligence Specialist**

**Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume)**:
Bachelor’s degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in Criminal Justice, Psychology, Homeland Security, Intelligence Analysis or a related field. Three (3) years of full-time demonstrated ability to analyze data and produce intelligence reports (student experience and advanced education course work can be considered). Experience in using analytic tools, intelligence, and research databases, and/or synthesizing large amounts of information from multiple sources. Must have, keep, and maintain the appropriate valid NYS Driver’s License; have a motor vehicle record which is free from major violations or a pattern of repeat violations. **(**Out-of-State Applicants, see "Special Notes”).**

**Preferred Qualifications**:
Advanced degree in Criminal Justice, Psychology, Homeland Security, Intelligence Analysis, or a related field. Additional years (4+) of full-time experience analyzing data and producing intelligence reports. Experience in higher education and/or healthcare setting working with diverse communities. Experience with intelligence analytic solutions (i.e., open source intelligence (OSINT) data providers, law enforcement data analysis tools, and other similar tools) including but not limited to Paliscope, Maltego Technologies, Chorus Intelligence, ONTIC, Forensic Analytics, Whooster, SkopeNow, ShadowDragon, Scout PD, Beagle Analytics, Finder, IP Quality Score, Enigma, etc.

**Brief Description of Duties**:

- **Data Collection and Analysis**:

- Complex analysis to include collection of raw, primary, and secondary data derived from various sources such as automated data base systems, operational intelligence reports, miscellaneous communications, internal and external automation systems, and other open/closed sources.
- Determine and assess the validity of information gleaned, present all pertinent information to the Lead Intelligence Specialist, and identify discrepancies that may impact the legitimacy of data.
- Track issues and potential crises of importance to the University, and, in an actual crisis, provide timely information and analysis that may inform the University’s response.
- **Intelligence Coordination and Reporting**:

- Prepare descriptive and current intelligence reports and routine briefings for internal use as well as dissemination to the Lead Intelligence Specialist.
- Produces self-initiated strategic finished intelligence products for dissemination and executive awareness that may include manuals and white papers as needed.
- Expand and investigate relevant data sources and leads that may evolve during the preparation of briefing material.
- Assist with preparing parts of more complex studies or reports that include dashboards and predictive data modeling to estimate the likeliness of future situations.
- Maintain collaborative working relationships with colleagues, experts, the intelligence community, policy committees, and law enforcement agencies, as appropriate, and leverage these relationships to share information of interest.
- Collect and maintain reference information on violence intervention programs, including state and national level statistics as available and relevant.
- **Travel Risk Assessments and Security**:

- Track international and domestic travel submitted and approved through Stony Brook web-based travel platform.
- Conduct risk assessments and intelligence reports for international and domestic travel for Senior leadership’s review.
- Utilize various sources to compose and disseminate pre-travel safety briefings that contain essential information for travelers to assist with the Duty of Care program.
- Monitor security alerts pertaining to travel, assess and determine present risk level to travelers and compose safety alert messaging.
- Monitor global events and provide guidance and assistance to minimize potential dangers to travel.
- Advise on security risk ratings including updating advice and guidance to senior leadership on emerging security risks.
- Other duties or projects as assigned as appropriate to rank and departmental mission.

**Special Notes**:
This is a full-time appointment. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Minimum salary threshold must be met to maintain FLSA exemption.

In addition to the employee's base salary, this position is eligible for $3,087 UUP annual location pay, paid biweekly.
