- Position Summary

As a collaborative member of the Department of Pastoral Services, the staff chaplain provides and enables pastoral care services to patients, families, visitors, and hospital staff. Performs other related duties as assigned.

- ** Standard Work Duties: Chaplain**:

- Actively participates in team development, achieving dashboards, and in accomplishing department goals and objectives.
- Demonstrates ability to assess, develop, and implement spiritual care plans to meet the needs of the patients, families and hospital staff.
- Coordinates and collaborates with other professionals in the provision of care.
- Documents the provision of services in the appropriate format for the service provided.
- Demonstrates knowledge and sensitivity to diverse faith groups represented in patient and staff populations while maintaining close contact with area clergy and religious institutions to facilitate and enhance patient care.
- Provides on-call emergency services as scheduled and participates in the departmental emergency management response.
- Participates in system-wide initiatives to provide a pastoral perspective. i.e. IRB, Patient Safety, Cultural Diversity, etc. and demonstrates initiative and creativity to develop, integrate and enhance spiritual care services as a part of the overall mission of the health system.
- Designs and conducts worship and funeral services as needed in the pastoral care of patients, families and staff. Performs other religious services such as baptisms, blessings and weddings as related to care of patients and staff and patients.
- Provides educational leadership within the hospital and the community in topics directly applicable to spiritual care.
Competencies & Skills

Essential:

- Current Knowledge of pastoral care theory and practice
- Successful completion of hospital specific mandatory requirements and competencies
