**Summary Description**

Under the supervision of a Senior Project Manager, Project Manager or Superintendent, plans, directs and supervises the construction activities and operations associated with the installation of aerial and underground line construction and outdoor lighting systems.

**Duties and Responsibilities**

Essential Functions:

- Complies with and ensures compliance with all Tri-M safety policies and procedures.
- Complies with and ensures compliance with all Tri-M employment policies and procedures including standards of conduct and appearance to reflect positively on the Company.
- Follows and understands proper temporary safety procedures.
- Reads and interprets outdoor electrical distribution system drawings.
- Performs layout and supervision of small line construction projects.
- Requisitions material and supplies; schedules heavy vehicles.
- Operates equipment, bucket trucks, digger derrick (line) trucks, trenchers, crane truck, and backhoe.
- Installs power poles and guys with all related cross arms, insulators and hardware.
- Erects steel substation structures in accordance with erection drawings.
- Performs basic rigging associated with the installation of switchgear, transformers, steel structures, etc.
- Strings aerial conductors with proper sags and tensions.
- Performs work on energized circuits up to 15,000 volts.
- Installs aerial and pad mounted transformers and related switchgear.
- Properly installs and terminates primary (5KV and up) cables.
- Makes correct transformer connections.
- Installs substation ground grid systems.
- Performs layout and supervision of duct banks and cable installations.
- Installs outdoor lighting systems.
- Assures compliance with the National Electric Code (NEC) and National Electric Safety Code (NESC).
- Assures that quality and productivity meet Company standards.
- Assures that appropriate on-the-job training takes place.
- Safeguards and maintains Company equipment and tools.
- Keeps abreast of new developments and techniques in the electrical construction trade.
- Complies with Company standards of conduct and appearance to reflect positively on the Company image.
- Assures that good housekeeping practices are maintained at the job site.

**Job Qualifications**

Skills/Educational Requirements:

- High school education; higher education desirable but not necessary, plus 8 years experience
- Completion of Company Foreperson Training Program
- Ability to read and understand construction drawings, specifications and electrical schematics
- Proven leadership skills and ability to manage people
- Ability to organize and administer multiple job functions
- Thorough knowledge of Company safety policies and procedures
- Thorough knowledge of line construction trade, electrical trade and applicable electrical codes
- Knowledge of various types of dielectric insulating fluids
- Understanding of applicable personnel practices
- Knowledge of and ability to deal with other construction trades
- Must be confident, decisive, self-motivated and have stable personality
- Maintain a valid commercial driver’s license-Class A and a history of safe driving.
- Must have reliable personal transportation to and from the assigned work location/office.
- Must purchase Company required personal tools (see attached list) and maintain in good condition.
- Ability and willingness to travel nationally to jobsites.

**Physical Requirements**:

- Working 40 hours/week, scheduled in 8 to 10 hour shifts
- Standing and climbing 4 to 6 hours/day
- Kneeling; lifting; reaching above shoulders; and bending (90° ) 4 to 5 hours/day
- Twisting (180° ) and walking 2 to 3 hours/day
- Squatting and sitting 1 to 2 hours/day
- Lifting weights of 0 to 100 lbs. at the following frequencies: continuous lifting of 10 to 35 lbs.; frequent lifting of 35 to 50 lbs.; occasional lifting of 50 to 100 lbs; sizes and shapes of objects vary from concrete blocks to cylinders to 20' lengths of conduit; average carry requirements, 60 lbs. for 40'
- Ability to lift from floor to above shoulder
- Repetitive use of hands includes: continuous grasping up to 50 lbs.; frequent pushing and pulling of 50 to 75 lbs.; and fine motor coordination for receptacle installation and wire terminations
- Repetitive use of feet is required for operating heavy equipment, con
