This position is responsible for oversight and coordination of our domestic violence shelter clients. This position is responsible for attentiveness to client safety, coaching of clients to follow shelter guidelines/policy, and serving as an empathic, active listener when clients are in crisis. This position serves as a collaborative, resourceful team member balancing the role as advocate for clients and supporter of organizational policy and structure. This person is responsible for:

- Knowing and understanding policies and procedures related to shelter-based services
- Knowing options available for clients in need of housing, legal advocacy, further medical treatment, mental health counseling, AODA treatment, etc AND following the internal (and external) referral process for exploring those options
- Advocating for client’s safety within shelter by addressing security or access concerns directly or deferring to case manager/director
- Providing support and mentoring to new advocates shadowing shifts during onboarding process
- Coordinating and communicating client need across shifts by serving as liaison between clients other support advocates
- Serving as trauma-informed support for clients maintaining appropriate professional boundaries
- Representing the organization with the “no wrong door” approach offering options to callers, clients, community members when clients are unable to be served at this organization
- Following policy and procedure regarding documentation practices
- Participating in weekly huddles with the director and other support advocates receiving updates, education, or other messages from leadership
- Completing housekeeping assignments to ensure clients and staff are protected from exposure to bacteria, toxins, or other harmful concerns
- Communicate with leadership regarding building maintenance or resource shortages
- Completing ongoing training requirements related to interpersonal skills, domestic violence related topics, cultural inclusivity, and trauma informed care practices
- Perform other duties as assigned

**TRAUMA INFORMED**: _All staff are expected to be knowledgeable in the foundational concepts of trauma-informed care as demonstrated in ability to communicate and collaborate with other staff, adults, and youth._
- Know the four components of TIC: realization about trauma and how it can affect people and groups; recognizing the signs of trauma; having a system which can respond to trauma; and resisting re-traumatization
- Demonstrate knowledge through using motivational interviewing and strength-based approaches to facilitate short
- and long-term goal setting
- Use organizational change process to support trauma informed organizational policies and procedures
- Deliver programs, services, and education in a manner that is trauma-responsive to all types of populations

**This position is a part-time position.**

**Job Type**: Part-time

Pay: $16.00 per hour

Expected hours: 1 - 34 per week
