**Location/ Division Specific Information**

The EHS Specialist is part of the Biosciences Division (BID), a thriving business with 4,000+ employees across the globe. Our team serves 480,000 customers with 70,000 products in 180 countries. The position is onsite and based out of Carlsbad, California.

**Position Summary**

The EHS Specialist lll primary role is to protect employees' health in the workplace by developing and implementing health and safety programs, policies, and procedures to measure and reduce employees' exposure to physical, chemical, biological, and ergonomic risks.

**What will you do?**
- Lead select EHS programs in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
- Provide technical expertise and be responsible for the implementation of various EHS programs, including chemical hygiene, biosafety, ergonomics, hazardous material management, management of change, contractor safety management, job hazard assessment and electrical safety.
- Conduct thorough inspections, investigations, and evaluations of site operations to assess environmental conditions, identify health hazards, and investigate hazards, near misses, and incidents to determine root causes.
- Prepare and share comprehensive reports detailing investigative findings, proposed corrective measures, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Serve as a key member of the incident command structure during site emergencies.
- Use Lean tools (Kaizen, Gemba, RCCM, etc.) and principles to drive continuous improvement, efficiency, and cost savings efforts.
- Collaborate with site functional teams and leadership to prioritize initiatives and allocate resources to achieve EHS objectives and site operational excellence.
- Promote and reinforce a safety-first culture Develop and deliver EHS training, mentoring, and coaching programs to develop site safety champions
- Support Thermo Fisher Scientific Global EHS initiatives, campaigns, tools, and policies to ensure compliance and standard process implementation.

**How will you get here?**

**Education**:

- Minimum required education: a technical or Bachelors degree in industrial/occupational health & safety, industrial hygiene, engineering, science, or closely related field
- Professional certification(s) desirable - ASP, CSP, CIH
- Certified in OSHA Occupational Safety and Health Standards for General Industry or be willing to take steps to gain required certification

**Experience**:

- 4+ years of EHS experience (preferably from the biotechnology industry).
- Possess a comprehensive understanding of federal, state, and local EHS regulations.
- A strong desire to build relationships and promote a proactive safety-first culture across all levels of the organization
- Experience with Industrial Hygiene sampling program implementation and management is highly desired.

**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities**:

- Strong communication, organization, presentation, and project management skills.
- Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office and other applicable EHS systems (e.g., Intelex).

**Compensation and Benefits**

The salary range estimated for this position based in California is $83,300.00 - $125,000.00.

This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy. We offer a comprehensive Total Rewards package that our U.S. colleagues and their families can count on, which includes:
