Yard Manager

Norman’s Nursery has been in business for 77 years and is one of the largest wholesale growers of boxed trees and shrubs. We have over 1,000 acres across 8 different locations in California. As one of the largest wholesale nursery suppliers in the west, we strive to be a leader in the industry.

**Job Summary**

Norman’s Nursery is seeking an experienced yard manager with expertise in horticultural growing yards production, proven success with cultivating high-performing teams to achieve exceptional results.

**Duties and Responsibilities**
- Manage over 300 acres of nursery operations, including coordination of staff and contractors, material, and equipment inventory.
- Directly supervises all aspects of production, day-to-day scheduling, planning, time and attendance processes, performance evaluations, staff supervision, and recruiting and training of new hires.
- Focus centered on identifying any issues or deficiencies before a product is shipped.
- Responsible for plant efficiency, coordinates with various departments to assess plant needs.
- Completes, maintains, and administers production forecast and planning paperwork.
- Performs recordkeeping functions related to inventory, scheduling, ordering.
- Interacts with leads and management team to ensure accuracy, punctuality, and continuous improvement with regards to production.
- Responsible for selecting, training, and supervising crew in performance of maintenance, production, and daily operations.
- Implements safety regulations and policies and stays in compliance with county regulations.

**Requirements**:

- Relevant Experience within the Agriculture industry
- Hands on experience working in the field with growers.
- Minimum of 5 years supervisory experience
- Efficiently and effectively able to manage large crew with a variety of trees and ornamentals (managing 200 employees)
- Bilingual in Spanish
- Plant ID Knowledge
- Experience with OSHA Safety and regulations.
- Knowledge of maintaining equipment, tools, and tractors
- Familiarity with California wage and hour laws.
- Experience with Microsoft Suite including Word and Excel.

Pay: $80,000.00 per year

Schedule:

- 8 hour shift
- Monday to Friday

**Experience**:

- Horticulture: 5 years (preferred)
- Supervising: 4 years (preferred)

Ability to Relocate:

- Linden, CA 95236: Relocate before starting work (required)
